Environmental Leadership AwardHistory and Overview

Chrysler Honors Environmental Excellence with Recognition (CHEER)

In 1994 Chrysler initiated the CHEER programMore of a local based, high energy, competitive yet friendly environmental award to recognize efforts in Stationary Source Pollution Prevention and Waste Reduction initiatives.

Emphasis on the idea and implementation of a good idea, not necessarily category specific.

Lots of winners, nice crystal statue presented at a conclusion of the annual environmental training.

Recognition from the Environmental Leadership at Chrysler.

The Creation of DaimlerChrysler

Every Department throughout the new Corporation was challenged to find their counterparts and develop synergistic opportunities in some cases on a global basis.

Stationary Environmental & Energy (SE&E) had the CHEER program and the German colleagues were developing a similar but much larger program.

The result is the Environmental Leadership Award (ELA).

2003 ELA Ceremony Hit the Mark

Three primary targets for the 2003 ELA Ceremony

1. Honor those receiving the ELA

2. Present an “American Standard” ceremony

3. Make sure that the right message is communicated.

We think we “Hit the Mark” as demonstrated by the closing speech presented by Dr. Zetsche
