EPICS Labs (4) (team) 2 hrs – meets Tues/Thur in summer

Team Roles� Project Manager - manages overall team and team
meetings, monitors progress of the project(s)� Design Lead- lead individual project and development of
the design, project documentation and delivery� Project Archivist– accountable for timelines, project and
design documentation� Project Partner Liaison - manage communications with
project partner� Webmaster - maintains the team’s web page� Financial Officer – Manages team budget

EPICS Design Notebooks� May be in OneNote or Paper –ask your advisor
�Used to record your� Individual activities (like going to lecture)� Ideas, process of getting to solutions� Interactions with others� Contacts and Resources� REFLECTIVE THINKING
�Put your name in the front� Each page is to be numbered, dated
� Important to record your accomplishments, the process to get there and your thinking� Like writing answers to test questions� Use the notebook, blogs, wiki’s, other paper, etc.

Grading� Simulates industry performance appraisals� Set team goals through the semester plan� Individual responsibilities set by week 4 with
advisor – agreement on expectations� Checked at class 5, 7 (12) and 15

� Highlight accomplishments and point to documentation
� Most Common Grades in EPICS is an A/A -�A’s and A -’s are earned , NOT just given for
showing up
General Grading GuidelinesA = Excellence in work completed and documented
B = Good achievement in work completed and documented
C = Adequate achievement in work completed and documented
D = Inadequate achievement in work completed and documented
F = Fails to meet minimum achievement in work completed and documented.
For accomplishments and outcomes that are appropriate for course level and number of credits
Grading – Learn by Doing� Individual grade reflects the quality and
quantity of the student’s documentedaccomplishments and learning , and team’s accomplishments .
�Juniors and Seniors must show excellence and initiative for an A – DO NOT have to be a project leader
�First-year & sophomores, can get an A following and meeting expectations with excellence, but NOT JUST SHOWING UP
