A SPECIAL “THANK YOU” – SINCERE THANKS AND APPRECIATION FROM FR.

DAVE TO ALL OF YOU WHO SENT HIM CHRISTMAS CARDS, GOOD WISHES AND

GIFTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS May our Infant Savior bless each and every one of you with peace, joy, good health and

happiness in the New Year!

FROM THE Desk of Fr. David Kozak My Dear People, The Star of Bethlehem is an image of the light of Jesus coming into our world-into our hearts. Our Savior overcomes the darkness of sin and despair. That is what we celebrate on the Solemnity of the Epiphany. A light that uncovers and reveals His presence among us. This light also uncovers the spots, wrinkles and defects of our own human weakness. We need His help to see clearly and recognize the truth. Without the light of Christ we remain in the darkness that surrounds us. “It is better to light one candle than to moan and complain about the darkness”. Let us make a New Year commitment to our God to be allied with the forces of light; and to do our part to brighten up our cor-ner of our world. Many thanks to those who made this Christmas season so wonderful. All the decorations, music and social gath-ering were done in a top-notch manner. It must really please Jesus that His birth is celebrated in such grand style! For His honor and glory! May Jesus bless you throughout the year!

Fr. David

Living out Christmas in the New Year: How do we live out the message of Christmas in the New Year, rather than pack it away with the ornaments? Each year the Octave Day of Christmas falls on the first day of the New Year, on which we also celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. Her open heart and courageous “yes” to God show us how to live year-round—with hearts open to the Lord, following where He leads. We are called to place our trust in Him, to enter compassionately into the suffering of others, and to love one another as Christ loves us. Like Our Blessed Mother welcomed Jesus, we are called to cher-ish and protect the gift of human life, at every stage and in every circumstance. One way to live out the message of Christmas and follow Our Lady’s example is to join 9 Days for Life, a digital pilgrimage of prayer and charitable action. The U.S. Catholic bishops invite you to join thou-sands of Catholics nationwide from Thursday, January 18 – Friday, January 26. Join today at www.9daysforlife.com

THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM The unfolding of the story of the Incarnation contin-ues today as the Church celebrates the Epiphany. The tale of the magi from the East is one of the most fascinat-ing in all of scripture. It has much to teach us about what we can come to expect, even in circumstances and places that may seem insignificant or small. Bethlehem was a tiny town, what we might refer to today as a town without even one stop light. Yet it is over this seemingly insignifi-cant place that the guiding star stops in its own search for the place where the Savior would be born. Too often we fail to recognize the fact that the star of Bethlehem comes to rest in our everyday lives, where we can experi-ence God’s presence, manifested in ever new ways. Epiphany calls us to shake off our stupor and recognize the One who comes to save us.
