The official opening session of the technical conference is Tuesday, August 5th. At the conclusion of the first day, participants will enjoy an outstanding party at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum sponsored by FirstEnergy, EPRI, and Omniverter. Guests will be treated to drinks, hearty hors d’oeuvres and dessert during this 50’s-style party held exclusively for conference participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring families and dress for the occasion by wearing poodle skirts, leather jackets, and jeans to get into the spirit of the evening. Stop by the soda fountain and try a root beer float, milk shake or malt. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is truly an interactive experience, with 150,000 square feet of the world’s most extensive collection of rock and roll history, memorabilia, and artifacts. Take time to see the four theatres and multiple interactive displays in this gorgeous glass museum that soars 160 feet above Lake Erie.

Following the technical conference, EPRI will hold working group meetings for utility funders of the EPRI’s Power Quality Program 1.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and FirstEnergy invite you to join us for the EPRI Power Quality Applications (PQA) and Advanced Distribution Automation (ADA) 2008 Joint Conference. This year’s conference will examine the challenges that face industry in the practical deployment of effective advanced distribution automation technologies and systems, as well as addressing the real world issues of managing power quality on both sides of the meter. In addition to the practical issues, leading edge research, technology applications and future roadmaps will be presented, all tempered by what is realistically achievable as we progress to the smart grid.

PQA/ADA 2008 will provide an unparalleled forum for electric power end-users, distribution engineers, reliability and power quality professionals and related technology manufacturers to gather, share experiences and learn from one another in a highly efficient and focused environment.

Week of EventsPQA/ADA 2008 opens Monday, August 4, with a free, open forum to review and provide an update on the Department of Energy (DOE) Project, “Development and Demonstration of Advanced Monitoring Systems for Fault Location, Analysis, and Prediction.” In the afternoon, two dynamic tutorials will take place concurrently. The first will present innovative and best practice methods for solving industrial customer voltage sag issues through on-site investigations. The second will address the implementation of smart distribution systems. The evening of the first day will end with a reception in the exhibition hall with
