From the ES Administrationrom the ES AdministrationDear Element ary School Parent s,

Is There Really a Human Race Someti mes it s bet t er not t o go fast . There are

beaut iful sight s t o be seen when your e

    last . Shouldn t i t be t hat you j ust t ry your

best? And t hat s more import ant t han beat ing the

rest? Shouldn t it be looking back at t he end that

you judge your own race by the help t hat you

lend? (Jamie Lee Curt is & Laura Cornell, 2006)

Too often we are pre-\occupied with the destination

and lose sight of the journey. This morning in

assembly we read the book from which the quote

above is taken. At t his t ime of year, wit h many of us

start ing to think about new grade levels, new classes

and even new schools and countr ies, it is poignant

for us all to press pause as we oft en do in our

classrooms, and take a moment t o enjoy the here

and now. Transit ion is a challenge for us all and one

that we all experience at various stages in our

li fe. At ISM, we are extremely cognizant of our

context and want to support all our students, parents

and teachers as they transit ion f rom one year to the

next. Equall y, we don t want school to be viewed as

a race to the end, but rather a journey that should

    be savored at every interval.

We hope that as a communit y we can all enj oy the

next three weeks together and celebrate what has

been achieved this year, how we have supported

each other wi thin our learning communit ies and also

take a moment to reflect on our j ourneys thus far.

    Annual Junior Bearcat

    Talent Showcase!

Hi everyone! Some of ISMs Grade 2, 3 and 4 stu-

dents have such a passion for music that they have

asked for a venue to showcase their special talents,

therefore we are excited to announce ISMs 1st

Annual Junior Bearcat Talent Showcase! We are

thrilled to report that more than 60 participants

have signed up and auditioned for this special

event! Due to this overwhelming student response and with careful consideration given to thelarge number of end-of-year activities taking place on campus, the Showcase will be held on two

    separate dates:

A program participant roster is included in this bulletin and will be posted outside the AMR during

the event. This is a non-competitive event and all participants will receive a Certificate of Partici-pation. Cameras and videos are welcomed and encouraged so everyone has a lifelong memory to

    take home with them.

    Hope to see you there!

PLEASE HELP US BUY A TETHERBALL

    FOR PCF!!

In Grade 4, weve been learning about ChildRights and we want to help uphold otherchildrens right to play. We collaboratedwith PCF School in Tondo this year andwhen we visited them, we found out thatthey play on their rooftop and the soccerballs keep falling into the Pasig River. Weare trying to raise enough money to buyPCF school a tetherball. To do this, we wrote

a book of poetry. We will be selling ourbook on May 14th -16th outside the MiddleSchool Cafeteria from 10.00 10.30 and12.00 12.20. It only costs 150Php.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE ADORABLEMONSTERS (Grade 4 Walshe)!

Exciting developments for next school year:

In our quest to ensure ISM maintains and keeps im-proving the wonderful sports facilities we have it givesme great pleasure to advise that work has already

started on the new roof top tennis court project andthat work will be starting in late May on resurfacingour track. The tennis court redevelopment is a largescale project which when completed in mid/late Octo-ber will provide a fully covered facility for tennis andPE classes with the addition of two courts (currently 6to 8 courts), along with male/female locker rooms, extra storage space for equipment, roll away tennisnets, a small office and two areas of spectator bleach-ers.

Our athletics track will be resurfaced and the jumps

runway/landing pit area will be relo-cated slightly to improve this facili-ty.

ISM hosts IASAS Tennis and Track& Field next school year and theseimprovements will ensure we havethe best facilities possible to hostthe IASAS Championships in 2013and for our students/teams to usefor their PE classes and team train-ing on a day to day basis duringthe school year.
