Essential Leadership Traits
Steven McGugan
#1The pledge to not live a life caught up in the small
details. A lot of people live their lives staying in their house, paying their mortgages, and earning enough to eat. The earn enough to get by and are not concerned with anything else. Instead, a leader thinks about what
he can do to improve the future of their nation. There are many issues to be solved around the world, and a leader pledges to fix these problems to make the world a better
place for everyone.
#2A leader must have a vision. From day one, a leader
should know his goals and a clear vision of where they are trying to take their company or organization. They subsume their egos and individual desires for a larger
goal.
#3A leader must have a voice. The way in which a leader
conveys his message to the public is of utmost importance. A leader has to be heard and listened to so
that they can get other people associated with the cause.
#4A leader must have passion. Passion is important
because passion shows and people follow passion. Without passion, a leader would not be able to engage
others as easily and continue growth in the cause.
#5
A leader must build a team. This is essential simply because large change cannot happen alone.
#6
A leader must have a backbone. A backbone is associated with strength, and it is vital for a leader to have his complete vision, control the situation, and fend off
any unwanted distractions.
#7 A leader must listen. A leader should know what they want to accomplish and where they want to go; however, they should have an open mind for alternatives to obtaining the change they want to
see in the world.
#8A leader must have emotional intelligence.
Understanding human emotions and different people’s values is essential in understanding who
to work with and an overall emotional understanding of your goal.
#9
Finally, a leader must accept and promote diversity. A leader’s goal is for everyone, so it is important for a leader to create an
environment in which everyone feels included.
