Status Report
• Report of capacity building training session, including resource materials used for the training as Annex.
Activity 4:Jointly with UNEPIETC, build capacity of the local
government and local community to implement the policies developed. This activity will be carried out by developing appropriate resource material and delivered through a training session organized in the Banyumas district.
• Preliminary policy gap analysis will be discussed during workshop in Jakarta and Banyumas, 47 December.
• Report of (a). gap analysis (b). the meeting in Jakarta and (c).recommended policy options
Activity 3: Carry out a policy gap analysis to promote forest waste
management and thus contribute to disaster prevention and other socioeconomic policy goals (including ecotourism). This analysis will make recommendations for action to be undertaken at the national and local levels.
• Cipendok area has been proposed by local leader (Mr. Adib, Agro Willis Farmer Group Leader) as a potential site for ecotourism development. The proposed area has been surveyed by MOE team in consultation with Mr. Slamet Rosyadi (Univeristy of Sudirman).
• Preliminary assessment is currently underway and will be consulting to the stakeholders during the Workshop in Banyumas, 67 December.
• Report of onsite demonstration in the Banyumas district
Activity 2: Onsite implementation of ESTs identified under
Activity 1 for the use of forest wastes in economically and environmentally sustainable activities. It leads to better support for the livelihoods of local communities. This will be particularly important for the very lowincome households that live near the forests. Recommendations made in Activity 1 will be used for the ESTs demonstration.
Database Development:• GIS database at scale 1:25,000 covering 8 districts in
Banyumas targeted areas (figure 1 and 2). This database was created in ARC View format and integrated to MOE Geodatabase.
• 1005 households in 32 villages have been interviewed based on annex 2 questionnaire.
• Final assessment report is currently underway and will be discussing in the Workshop in Jakarta and Banyumas, 47 December.
• GIS Database on current conditions and trends
• Report on potential solutions such as ecotourism and other approaches
• Two reports of meetings in Jakarta and in the Banyumas district
• Final assessment report
Activity 1: Carry out a preliminary assessment on potential
environmental impacts of forestry waste management, and organize two coordination meetings to discuss the findings with national, local, private sector and community stakeholders – the first meeting in Jakarta, and the second meeting in the Banyumas district.
