Principal Report
What a crazy start to Term 2 at Pomonal Primary School... The staff are all really missing the students and families, but have been incredibly proud of how resilient and conscientious our students have been in these difficult times. We also really appreciate all the incredible support the parents and carers have been providing for our students with their learn-ing and to the staff.
We understand that at times learning from home can be really challenging –remember to take a physical break at these times to re-set. You might like to go for a walk or a run or do something fun and continue your learning after you have dinner etc. Remember to keep in touch to let us know how you are going. School Projects Whilst you have all been safe at home, there have been a few projects getting completed back at school. So far Felicity and Josh have painted the toilet block and oiled the floor boards. They have painted the roof skirting of the sports shed to match the office and have began replacing and oiling the playground boards. Soon they will begin lining the shed roof and walls to make it nice and cosy. All the drawings for the Outdoor Inclusive Playspace (area near the office) have been finished and the project will go to tender soon.
Google Classroom Bree has texted all families a link and in-structions to access google classroom. If you have any trouble with this, please contact Bree and she will talk you through it. Google Classroom will be used to share learning video’s and for students to respond in video form too. Eventually we will use google classroom a bit more so students can share their assignments etc. The classroom will be under Bree’s Name. There should already be videos in the classroom for students to access.

Mental health and wellbeing check-in
Is important to make time each day to check in on your child’s mental health and
wellbeing. As your child adjusts to their new routine and not being able to see
their friends in person, it is important to be understanding of their feelings of
frustration, anxiousness and even anger – every child will react differently.
To support your child, use these mental health and wellbeing check ins to:
Encourage your child to have regular ‘brain breaks’ -do something physical
several times a day.
Provide an opportunity to talk about how they feel and listen to what they
say.
Identify one or two things they could do to address what they are concerned
or angry about
Ask how they are going, whether they are finding it easy or hard to learn re-
motely, and if there is anything they’d like your help with.
How you can support your child You can support your child by:
having a routine and setting expectations
making sure your child has a space to work in
providing a level of supervision suitable to your child’s stage of development
monitoring communications from teachers / friends
checking in with your child often to help them manage and pace their work.
monitoring how much time your child spending online and that they go to
bed at a reasonable time (eg. School night time)
