Legal information

Legal information Warning notice system

This manual contains notices you have to observe in order to ensure your personal safety, as well as to prevent damage to property. The notices referring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety alert symbol, notices referring only to property damage have no safety alert symbol. These notices shown below are graded according to the degree of danger.

DANGER indicates that death or severe personal injury will result if proper precautions are not taken.

WARNING indicates that death or severe personal injury may result if proper precautions are not taken.

CAUTION with a safety alert symbol, indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.

CAUTION without a safety alert symbol, indicates that property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken.

NOTICE indicates that an unintended result or situation can occur if the relevant information is not taken into account.

If more than one degree of danger is present, the warning notice representing the highest degree of danger will be used. A notice warning of injury to persons with a safety alert symbol may also include a warning relating to property damage.

Note

Unused channels

"Disable" unused channels in the parameter assignment to improve the cycle time of the module.

A disabled channel always returns the value 7FFFH.

4.4 Declaration of parameters

Diagnostics missing supply voltage L+ Enabling of the diagnostic message for missing or insufficient supply voltage L+.

Diagnostics short-circuit to ground Enabling of the diagnostics in the event of a short-circuit of the sensor supply to ground or of an input to the sensor supply.

Diagnostics overflow Enabling of the diagnostics if the measured value exceeds the over range.

Diagnostics underflow Enabling of the diagnostics when the measured value falls below the under range.

Diagnostics wire break Enabling of the diagnostics if the module has no current flow and/or the current is too weak for the measurement at the corresponding parameterized input.

The wire break and underflow diagnostics can be activated simultaneously. If both diagnostics occur simultaneously, however, the wire break diagnostics suppresses the underflow diagnostics. Wire break is output as the diagnostics.

Analog Input Module AI 4xI 2-/4-wire ST (6ES7134-6GD00-0BA1) 16 Manual, 03/2012, A5E03551866-01

Smoothing The individual measurements are smoothed using digital filtering. The smoothing can be set in 4 stages, whereby the smoothing factor k multiplied by the cycle time of the I/O module corresponds to the time constant of the smoothing filter. The larger the smoothing, the larger the time constant of the filter.

The following image shows the step response for the different smoothing factors depending on the number of module cycles.

Figure 4-1 Smoothing with AI 4×I 2-/4-wire ST

Interference frequency suppression Suppressed by analog input modules, the interferences that are caused by the frequency of the AC voltage network.

The frequency of AC network may corrupt measurements, particularly in the low voltage ranges, and when thermocouples are being used. For this parameter, the user defines the mains frequency prevailing on his system.

BaseUnit with incoming supply voltage Specifies whether the I/O module is located on a BaseUnit with incoming supply voltage (see system manual ET 200SP Distributed I/O System (http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/58649293)).
