About the European Film Festival Experience the drama, comedy, tragedy, and passion of the moving image alongside film fans, academics, students, and local expatriate communities at the 2015 edition of the European Film Festival (EFF). This year's festival returns to the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination and premieres 13 new feature films from 16-20 September 2015. The annual European Film Festival features a selection of European films, giving local audiences a taste of Europe’s diversity and creativity. Every year, the EFF presents a collection of recent films, many of which are award winners in their country of origin or internationally. The films showcased in this festival may belong to a specific country, but they are all representative of Europe’s common cultural heritage. Whether highlighting a historic event, a political subject or a personal dilemma, European films are intellectually stimulating and culturally engaging. This is what makes European cinema so appealing. Since its launch in 2009, the film festival in Barbados has become an established event on the Barbadian culture calendar. Having premiered almost 100 films, the EFF provides a window into the intriguing world of European cinema, and an opportunity to improve exposure of local talents. Overall, the EFF provides Barbadian audiences, both local and expatriate, with a unique opportunity to get a taste of Europe’s contemporary creativity. The festival is hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean in collaboration with European Union Member States. The Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies plays a critical role as the festival’s Official Film School Partner. The EFF also enjoys the support of loyal moviegoers who, year after year, contribute to the success of the festival. Admission to all EFF movies is free. On selected nights there are also Member State hosted receptions the complement the viewing experience with a taste of Europe. You can learn more about the 2015 European Film Festival by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter; where we will provide you with updates, sneak peeks, interviews, and interesting trivia.
