The University Senate declares Sir Timothy Bern-ers- Lee, founder of the World Wide Web (www), as Honorary Doctor of the Department of Com-puter Science and Engineering. According to TIME magazine, Sir Timothy Berners-Lee is among the “100 Brightest Minds of the Century.”

Honorary Professorship to Laurent Fabius, President of French Constitutional Council

Laurent Fabius, President of the French Constitutional Council, former Prime Minister of France, President of the French Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is named as an Honorary Professor of the School of Law. Mr. Fabius delivers his inaugural address “Protecting the Environment: Our Responsibilities to the Present and Future Generations” at the ceremony.

Hadassah University Hospital, JerusalemA strategic alliance between the School of Medicine and Hadassah University Hospital will enable EUC Medical students to take part in innovative clinical training and research across multiple levels.

Hygeia Hospital, AthensThe exclusive agreement between the School of Medicine and Hygeia offers EUC Medical students the opportunity to do select junior or senior clerkships at Hygeia Hospital. This agreement deepens the relationship between the two institutions, supporting and advancing academic and clinical activities of common interest in the field of medicine.

Dr. Marilena Theodorou named among the best in Neuro-Oncology Dr. Marilena Theodorou, Lecturer in Radiotherapy and Radiology Oncology, in the Department of Health Sciences, is elected to the Executive Board of the European Association of Neuro-Oncol-ogy (EANO) for 2018-2020. The EANO Board is made up of eight top European specialists from 70 member states. A specialist in brain tumors and childhood cancer, Dr. Theodorou’s election is recognition of her work and of the level of health sciences education at EUC.

EUC in U-Multirank RankingIn the European Commission’s U-Multirank 2019 rankings, (total participation of 1672 universities), European University Cyprus is placed among the top academic institutions, performing in the fields of Research (Arts Related Output - top 120); Knowledge Transfer (Spin off - top 164); Income from Continuous Development (top 150) and International Joint Academic Publications (top 181). In the Regional Engagement Category, the University scored 82% for Bachelor graduates working in the region and 95% for Master graduates working in the region.

UI GreenMetric World RankingEuropean University Cyprus ranked among the best in the world for 2018 from the international organization of universities ranking “Τhe GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities”. The organization aims to raise awareness of universities who display commitment and action towards environmental sustainability. In the category of “Energy and Climate Change,” European University Cyprus received the highest ranking of all private universities in Cyprus.

20th Annual Career Exhibition More than 100+ organizations from Cyprus and abroad participate in the 20th Annual Career Exhibition in March at the EUC Cultural Center. The exhibition is a major an-nual event organized by the EUC Career Center as part of its efforts to promote employability and industry links. Students learn about labor market trends, internships and part-time and full-time employment.

Cooperation protocol on research signedEuropean University Cyprus and the Foundation for Re-search and Technology which comprises eight research centres across Greece signed a cooperation protocol for the exchange of know-how, the joint participation in research proposals, the exchange of experts and the co-organization of conferences and seminars. The aim is to promote the research and education output of the two instuitutions and strengthen the scope of their con-tribution on a regional, national and European level.

European University Cyprus’ Centre of Excellence for Risk and Decision Sciences (CERIDES) secured more than €2.0 million in funding for the implementation of large-scale European research projects. Under the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, CERIDES, which is a

cross disciplinary educational, research and consulting center, will participate in a series of projects that cover safety and security, environmental protection, data pro-tection and judicial and police cooperation.
