Contents

In order to create my own music magazine contents page, I used a variety of different contents pages to help me create a realistic looking final product. I did not use one specific model, but I used various contents pages to incorporate different conventions. I included a masthead that was the same font and house style as the one from my front cover, so that there was recurring theme that linked to my cover. I also included a band index down the left hand side of my page. I did this as most music magazines incorporate these into their contents pages so that the readers can easily navigate their way through the magazine, finding the artists from the issue that they would like to read about due to the page numbers next to each artist. I have included bold subheadings like other magazine contents pages. This is useful as it helps the readers navigate through the contents page. For example, if they want to find an album review, they can easily notice the subheading 'Reviews' and they will find them all in one place. I placed the subheadings on top of the same shape incorporated into my front cover to keep a recurring theme, however I changed the colour to match the band index. Beneath my subheadings, I have included my storylines, underneath their appropriate sections, justified down the left. I have carried on using the four colours that I have used throughout. I placed my main image at the top of the page, on the right hand side of the band index. I incorporated various images from a concert in order to promote the news of concerts etc. I also included images that formed an advertisement. I feel as though this is effective in making it feel and look like a realistic music magazine. I also included Instagram, Twitter and Facebook logos to promote the brand of the magazine so that the readers will follow them, keep up to date and hopefully buy more issues.

Overall, I feel as though my contents page follows many conventions of a real magazine, however, to improve, I think that I could have included more images, but I had no one else to take images of and most of my concert photos were not good enough to use.
