DEAR COLLEAGUES,

After successfully fi nishing six MASTER AND MORE fairs in

2012, we used the subsequent time to evaluate our fairs. For the

fi rst time, with the location in Vienna we offered a MASTER AND

MORE fair outside Germany and gave you the chance to recruit

Austrian prospective Masters students.

We want to thank you for your support by participating in our

evaluation and the consequent survey. We will now try to adapt

and optimize our fair concept for the upcoming fair tour in 2013.

What’s new in the evaluation?

In the fi rst section of this evaluation, you will get a profi le of our

fair visitors in 2012, in which we characterize who visited our

MASTER AND MORE fairs. You can use this information to pro-

mote your institution or programmes more target-orientated at

the upcoming events.

MASTER AND MORE - EVENT Recruitment fairs that allow potential Masters students to meet study advisors from domestic and international universities in person. Exhibiting institutions are able to inform a large target group of prospective students about their educational programmes in one day.

MASTER AND MORE - GUIDEA printed magazine for prospective Masters students, providing background information on educational institutions and their Masters programmes. The guide comes in three editions, one spread in Germany, one spread in Austria and Switzerland and one spread in Great Britain.

MASTER AND MORE - WEBwww.master-and-more.de, www.master-and-more.at und www.master-and-more.ch are the largest and most comprehensive study choice websites in the German-speaking region. They provide detailed information on institutions and their Masters programmes. Students use the websites for their study choice orientation. For the UK market the new website www.masters-and-more.co.uk was recently launched.

THE MASTER AND MORE CAMPAIGN CONSISTS OF:

The MASTER AND MORE fairs take place within the framework of the MASTER AND MORE graduate student recruitment campaign. Its objective is to promote Masters programmes to prospective postgraduate students.

MASTER AND MORE enables institutions to reach the right prospective students and establish contact through various channels.

This cross-media approach takes the current trends in information-seeking behaviour of today’s students into account.

“The MASTER AND MORE fair in Berlin was an exciting event. We had the opportunity to

meet many enthusiastic students who were interested in the Masters programmes offered

by Leiden University. A lot of them had prepared beforehand using the websites of our

university and came with specifi c questions. Others came with an open mind and were

eager to learn about student life in Leiden. I’m confi dent that we could assist the students in

fi nding Masters programmes that match their personal interest and expectations. Choosing

the right educational programme is a crucial step into their future.“

“The organization of the fair went extremely smoothly. On our arrival everything was well-

prepared just as we expected it and we got great support and help from the organizational

staff. Moreover, all communication prior to the fair was clear and effective and the members

portal was easy to use.

The MASTER AND MORE fair is very important for us as it allows interaction with the students

and we were pleased with the quality of students who came to see us. Most of the students

were well-prepared and informed about what the University of Nottingham offers. It was

nice to see that students arrived at the fair in a constant fl ow throughout the day. We would

defi nitely recommend the fair to other universities.“

“I‘m very pleased with the organization of the fair: the logistics have been professionally

arranged and the contact before the fair was very personal, which I like. The visitors were

prepared and the majority had very relavant questions about specifi c study programmes. The

success of fairs like this one is not only measured in the quantity, but also in the quality of

the students we are able to recruit. The Austrian students that study already at VU University

Amsterdam perform very well. Therefore we are very happy with the outcome of taking part

today.”

“The MASTER AND MORE fairs were completely new to us before, and now I am pleasantly

surprised about the organization. The location, planning and personal care on location don’t

leave much to desire. We had a lot of high quality conversations with visitors at our stand. I

am positive that we could convince some students for our programmes. Also our presentation

was supported by a very convenient and enjoyable atmosphere.

A big advantage for visitors is the international profi le of exhibitors. This makes it easy for

students to reach universities that they would otherwise not get in contact with. That’s why I

can highly recommend this campaign. We might participate in the MASTER AND MORE fairs

again next year, also on international level.”

“The MASTER AND MORE fair is one of the best organized fairs that we have attended. We

experienced an excellent support and service through the MASTER AND MORE team in the

run-up to and during the fair. The location in Berlin was nice and special.

Especially the focus on Masters students was commendable. By this means, we had a lot

of good conversations with very interested students who had specifi c questions about our

institution and Masters programmes.

It was also interesting to observe the development of the German Masters market and to

experience the high demand for national and international Masters programmes at the fair

ourselves. Therefore, we would recommend the MASTER AND MORE fair to other higher

education institutions.”

“Due to the perfect communication prior and during the MASTER AND MORE fair in Berlin, we

felt very satisfi ed with the service and organization. Also the location, the Postbahnhof Berlin,

had a special character and is especially attractive for younger people such as students.

We were happy to see that the demand for Masters programmes in Canada is still on a high

level. We had a lot of good conversations with well-prepared students.

We would recommend this fair not only to other higher education institutions but also to

prospective Masters students who need more information about national and international

institutions and programmes.”

“The MASTER AND MORE fair is very well-segmented, which is especially important for us at

this point. The visitors are specifi cally looking for Masters programmes and not for PhDs or

undergraduate degrees. We are used to taking part in international education fairs, and this is

one of the best organized fairs that we attended in the last two years.”

“The very high expectations we had for the fair in Berlin were completely fulfi lled. Especially the

organization prior to the fair was very helpful. The possibility to upload all required documents

online and to see who has registered for personal interviews at the stand was professionally

implemented and totally made sense to me.

Although the fair in Berlin was not our fi rst one, we were still surprised about the variety of

visitors. We were particularly pleased to see how many students visited our presentation, for

which we got a lot of positive feedback.“

Johanna, graduate student “European Economics and Administration” at University of Applied Sciences

“The advice that I got at the booths was very helpful and the presentations showed me different perspectives

in the market. A fair like this gives you a perfect overview of the range of Masters programmes in different

countries and everything concerning your studies: your student life abroad, fi nancial issues, etc.”

Elena, student “International Tourism Management“ in Stenden, Netherlands

“I am still considering whether and when I should do my Masters. For my decision the student advisory

service at the booths was really helpful. I also liked the presentation by the University of Southern Denmark

with the visit of the Danish princess.”

Annika, student “Economical Psychology“ at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences

“I defi nitely want to do my Masters, I just don’t know where. That’s why I really like this fair: You can go to

any booth you like, the reception is very friendly and the advisory service is really good to help you decide.”

Konstantin, student “Economical Psychology“ at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences

“I still don’t know where I want to do my Masters. That’s a very basic decision and I am also considering

doing a Masters programme abroad. This fair gives you a lot of opportunities to orient yourself.”

“I visited four presentations today, which were all really interesting for me. The lecture programme is very

diverse and offers topics for everyone. I also like that I could plan my fair visit online beforehand.”

Julia, Monika & Pamela, students “Agrarian Marketing and –Management” at FH Weihenstephan

“A fair like this is a great possibility to fi nd programmes that you would never fi nd just by web research. A

Masters programme abroad is another really interesting option for us.”

Christina & Sabrina, students “Landscape Architecture“ at TU München

“We want to take the time to make a well-grounded decision. We don’t quite have a concrete idea yet about

what Masters programme we want to do. Especially when you do Landscape Architecture it’s complicated.

We are particularly interested in design, art and communication and the fair offers a lot of interesting

information about that.”

The following selection of answers refl ects the thoughts of our visitors about the fair.

Stefan, student “Business & Insurance” at DHBW Cooperative State University Mannheim

programmes and also the differences between the Masters programmes became clearer to me.“

Alexandra, student “Culture Journalism” at Macromedia University for Media & Communication Stuttgart

“This fair is great! I could gather information from all the institutions I’m interested in and I fi nally found a

university where I want to do my Masters programme.“

Fabian, student “Aerospace Science” at DHBW Cooperative State University Ravensburg, Campus

Friedrichshafen

“It was helpful to directly ask the advisors about particular topics. The fair was very informative and provided

me with several study options. “

Heinz, student “Aerospace Science” at DHBW Cooperative State University Ravensburg, Campus

Friedrichshafen

“The fair was really good and it was great to meet advisors from different European countries. Also the study

programmes and situations in other European countries became clearer to me. “

Sasa, student “Sportmanagement”, in her blog

at Fernstudium-Infos.de:

“I’ve been at the Masters fair with my boyfriend and I have

to say: Thank you Markus for this amazing day. Generally,

we just wanted to have a look and gather some information.

Finally, we were surprised that we stayed there from 9am

Kevin, student “Business” at Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus

“Although I’m still in sophomore year, I already have an idea where I want to go with my Masters programme.

The fair helps me to gather information about potential Masters programmes and due to the individual

appointments and conversations during the fair I could prepare myself properly before. All in all my

expectations were completely fulfi lled.”

Julia, student “International Business”at DHBW Cooperative State University Ravensburg, Campus

Friedrichshafen

“The Masters fair was very informative. I particularly liked the expert lectures, which were really illuminative.

The advice of the representatives, in combination with the printed information material provides me with the

information I needed. Additionally, the cheap entrance fee is a big advantage for the students.”

Katharina, student “International Management” at HTW University of Applied Sciences

“The offered expert lectures were really good. Especially the presentation of the GIZ was very detailed and

motivating.“

Chris, student at University of Education Karlsruhe

“I want to gather information about the chances I have after fi nishing my state examination and how I can

combine this degree with a Masters programme. The fair is very well-organized and a lot of institutions

are attendant. I already had two very good conversations with the advisors, in which I got more detailed

information. The advisors also gave me some really good ideas and told me about their own study

experiences.”

Katharina, student “Business and Law” at University of Potsdam

“I have a great impression of the fair. The lectures of the experts and particularly the lecture about desired

salary were very informative and of great interest to me.”

Filiz und Sabrina, students “Sport Sciences” at Humboldt Universität Berlin

“We like the fair a lot. The advisors are very competent and could answer all our questions. So the

conversations that we had so far were very good. More information about internships and graduate theses

from companies would be desirable. This would be helpful for a lot of students.”

How would you evaluate the quality of visitors at the MASTER AND MORE fair in Münster?

Would you recommend the fair or book again for next year?

My expectations of the fair were to have 30 contact sheets by the end of the day and even though I haven’t counted yet I think that the expectations were exceeded. I was very surprised to see so many students who had interesting questions or who had already looked up the website.

I would certainly recommend the MASTER AND MORE fair to Business Schools and other international institutions who are interested in reaching a pool of young German graduates.
