DESCRIPTION

The first frame I have chose shows the setting we used for our opening title sequence; outside a school. This is because it fits in with our narrative of our main character who is obsessed with killing school girls. It is also an urban setting, where nothing would be suspected; typical of the thriller genre. The second frame I chose shows costume and props we used for our main character. The camera shows that our character is some sort of photographer (or pretending to be) and this will play an important aspect to our film. The fact he is wearing a hoodie, shows that he is a dark mysterious character, and may want to feel hidden away from the outside world. The third frame represents our camera work and editing. We used editing techniques to make the writing look like it was on the wall, which gives the audience the clue that our character may take notes on other people, and keep clear records, making him the psychotic individual of a thriller. As the lens of the camera is turned on this shot, we focused the camera to make it a match-on-action with the camera on film. The fourth frame represents how we introduced our female characters. They are shown walking out of the school, which straight away shows the audience they are school girls. Straight away, this makes them seem innocent which implies they are the victims in our film. The fifth frame represents how our opening title sequence showed our story line. It shows the whole way through how the main character is constantly watching the 2 young girls. This not only shows us that he has an obsessive side, but straight that he is a psychotic individual to be obsessing over two young school girls; who he actually wants to lure in and hurt; so this suggests the thriller genre.

Evaluation Q1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Lottie Fowler The first frame I have chose shows the setting we used for our opening title sequence; outside a school. The sixth frame shows the font we chose for our opening title sequence. It is the well known font Helvetica. We chose this because not only is it bold and stands out, but it is simple and this is good way to create tension- so it has typical thriller characteristics. The seventh frame represents how our opening title sequence suggests the Thriller genre. This shot cuts straight to our main character wearing a different outfit, suggesting his split personality. This shows he has a split personality, insinuating his unstable mental state. A psychotic individual often suggests a Thriller, just like Fight Club. The eight frame represents the special effects we used in our opening title sequence. We used the camera flash as an editing point to flash from once scene to another. This was not only relative to the narrative, but gave our opening title sequence a jumpy feel, making the audience on-edge, which is the aim of a typical Thriller. The ninth frame is of our title. We chose the title Captured as it has two relevant meanings. One being that meaning being physically capturing someone, as our main character does with the girls in the film, and the second meaning being related to cameras and photography; capturing a photo. The reason we placed it on the black background, is so it represents darkness; someone who does not see things in a very positive light, and also danger.
