HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA

PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?EVALUATION QUESTION 2LILY WILKINSON

Page 2: Evaluation question 2

SOCIAL CLASSESMy magazine has similarities to those of NME and Kerrang in relation to how social classes are represented, as they are both aimed at a similar age group, and represent their cover artists in a similar way in relation to their genre of music.

MISE EN SCENEThe mise en scene of the images I have included creates a positiverepresentation of this young age range, as they have a fun and exciting look about them. The use of a guitar and a skeleton as props in the images, reflect a happy and jokey tone, as well as conveying the younger demographic in a positive light.

YOUNGER DEMOGRAPHIC The younger age range is represented through the artist featured, ‘Holly Taylor’, who is a teenage female solo artist. This is due to the target audience for my magazine being aimed at 15 to 25 year olds, and as a result the readers will be able to relate to the content regarding the featured artist.

WOMENThe women/girls portrayed in my magazine are not shown in a provocative or sexual nature, but rather like the opposite, which could suggest I havechallenged the stereotypeof how women are usually represented. This is done bythe clothing of which all of the women who feature in my magazine, they are not dressed provocatively, and are quite covered up.
