evaluation question four

Evaluation- Question Four
How did you use new technologies in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
CONSTRUCTION
During my production I took to utilising a digital camcorder for filming, this was
because of its effectiveness and speed at which it could film and be stored ready for
me to import it, it was also light weight and compacted which enabled me to
move the camera a lot and place it in all kinds of areas.
Pre Production
Production
The digital camcorder had a particular main frame and this was also a set up of some of my frames;
the settings on the camcorder allowed me to shoot in night vision (which I didn’t use in my final
cut) but also explore zooms.
In the research stages of my project, as a class we went to Brentford CLC to explain to us how to use iMovieHD and explore the programme, the visit allowed me to get a general use understanding of the software as it had changed since my AS Media production.
If you look very closely at this video clip you will see the fade in transition I
used in my video (this clip has been directly cut from my video production
and slowed down).
Although I mainly edited with jump cuts to edit on the beat, I had filmed over some of my footage for this particular part of the
production and I could re film as not all the actors were available and the set had changed etc, so I decided to try and flow the
video clip so that it run smoothly even though I was repeating the clip. The transition needed to be sped up to not allow the focus to
be on the transition. Only on this clip when the video has been slowed down can you notice very clearly what I have done.
I did not import images from my music video to create a synergy; I asked my main star to take part in a photo shoot, I created a synergy by her clothing she wore during the video. To manipulate my images I used the editing software
to airbrush her giving her a glow I also gave her a suntan using the suntan option as she was quite pale which didn’t make her stand out compared to
the white background.
For the construction of my magazine advert I took many images of Joanna from the photo shoot and placed a blue filter over the top to work with my colour scheme and to also make the background clear enough that the writing
will stand out. I used a digital camera for the most effective
way to take photographs and the speed at which the photos can take and upload. I
then used a windows laptop which has paint shop pro installed to edit the photographs
this allowed me to experiment and edit photos quicker and getting the images to
the accurate size for the Digipak.
RESEARCH
I used PowerPoint’s and word documents I uploaded these onto blogger.com via slideshare.com. For the PowerPoint’s I was able to
present the information in a different way whilst including images and diagrams etc. I realised at the beginning of the blog I would have a lot of
information that I wanted my followers to read and understand how I managed to end up with my ideas and finally my products. It was then I decided that the blog needed to have the information without followers getting bored so I decided images and different way of presenting texts
would keep them informed and interested.
For my audience research I created a newspaper article on Microsoft publisher. I choose to make my audience research in this way as I had explored the use of
pictures, Microsoft word and PowerPoint to present it previously to this.
Throughout my blog I used many different new technologies to present and record the construction of
products and production.

PLANNING
I created a hand drawn storyboard to note down all my ideas for the music video that I had thought of
in my research.
I especially used the paint shop mood board.
This then lead me to create the animatic which followed order and rhythm to the song and song
lyric. By using windows movie maker and iMovieHD I was able to envision my idea for my
audience to see which also allowed me to witness the realistic time frame of the song.
By using Corel Paint Shot Pro Photo X2 I was able to plan my Digipak to realistic sizes and mega pixels.
I used the sizes of general Digipak to determine the size of mine as I wanted it to fit a general high street sold Digipak case.
Because I had a range of possible photographs from the photo shoot I was able to think of many different possible scenarios. I considered colours,
lighting, animation and image when picking my favourite images. However, I loved so many of them that I edited them all and experimented in new
exciting way to portray eye-catching images of Joanna who was portraying Katy Perry's stage attitude/ ultra ego.
I also used paint shop pro to plan my magazine advert; I had used a lot of images from my photo shoot and I wanted the magazine advert to stand out but also have synergy with the Digipak so I made a small mood board of the images I had been using in the Digipak this lead to the idea of having the same background as the CD sticker. It was easy for me to plan the way I was going to do this as Corel paint shop had many different options for me to choose from.
EVALUATION
I have used different forms of electronic formats to present my evaluation for question one I created a slideshow of images on windows movie maker with my voice over which I recorded with my personal Dictaphone and cut in some of the song.
For my 2nd question I created a still image of my production with clear annotations of my Digipak music video and magazine advert.
The 3rd question I chose to highlight what I had learnt from audience feedback via a video.
And the final question I created an interactive PowerPoint which allowed me to add all the text needed to evaluate whilst also adding images, hyperlinks and embedding videos. Throughout I have tried to add still images of my music video to highlight angles, location ad lighting used in music video.
Thank you for viewing my A-Level Media blog, I hope you have enjoyed it.
