Our Mission:Chesapeake Arts Center will use the arts to excite, educate, engage, inspire and grow this community's people, it's artists and the region through performances, exhibitions, classes, and collaborations with artists, educators, business and community leaders and organizations.

Proposal Information and Selection Process:Proposals are sought out from artists for exhibits, theatrical productions (originals and licensed), dance and music recitals, classes, workshops and touring performances. The proposals are reviewed initially by the staff for mission alignment and scheduling viability. These proposals are then brought before the Program Committee by the Executive Director. This committee is comprised of current staff and board members, and a community advisory panel.

The proposals and sample works are carefully scrutinized, discussed, and voted upon. The views of the CAC Staff are carefully taken into account during this process. All works (art work, original & licensed plays, music performances, poetry & literature presentations), as well as proposed classes are reviewed for general audience and membership appeal, artistic merit, community impact and basic decency standards. Everything exhibited, produced or presented here at CAC must fit within the vision set forth by our mission statement and the season schedule.

Some proposals require the organization to first perform at the Center under a “renter” umbrella rather than a “presented” event.

The Chesapeake Arts Center works within a budget each season, please submit your anticipated artists fees for this program. Artists fees are subject to negotiation. Artists may be asked to work with CAC to obtain funds through grants.
