TAC will welcome several
premier events in 2019. In
March, we will host the ESSZ
Senior Sectional bringing in our
regions finest swimmers. To
top that, the Triangle Aquatic
Center will once again host the
USA Swimming Southern Zone
Age Group Championship the
end of July. This meet will bring
in the future Olympic stars from
12 different LSCs during the at
the end of July.
All of this is topped by the ex-
pansion of the Triangle Aquatic
Center starting in April. We’ll
add 22,000 square feet to our
facility with expanded Spectator
Seating and a new Fitness Cen-
ter. The big addition though is
our new 50m outdoor pool
slated for construction later in
the year!
All told, 2018 looks to be
another busy year at TAC!
The ball has dropped on
another new year and the
Triangle Aquatic Center is sure
that it will be our best ever.
This year promises even more
for all of our events and
programs than ever before.
TITAN Aquatic Programs (TAP)
continue to grow and expand
for 2019. Our staff will
continue to add to our TAP portfolio and expand offerings
for our patrons of all ages. Last
fall we introduced our weekday
Senior Dryland Fitness Program
which focused on Silver
Sneakers members. This year
we’ll continue to expand
programming for seniors, adults
and children.
Additionally Programs will be
updating our Party Packages
here at TAC to include
everything from new pool
inflatables to a complete catered
affair, courtesy of the Poolside
Grill. Coming soon will be our
new 25-yard Aquatic Obstacle
Course! Stay tuned for these
exciting new packages.
Events at TAC continue to
grow as well. Last year our
TITANS hosted 14 swim events,
including NC Swimming Senior
Champs, Blizzard Blitz and
more. This year we add both
the short-course and long-
course NC Swimming Age
Grouop Champs along with a
duel in the pool with the
nationally-ranked Virginia
Gators.
TAC will also welcome again
the North Carolina High School
Athletic Association for both
Regional and State
Championships in February.
Also returning is the NC Master
Championship in March, the
National Black Heritage Meet
over Memorial Day, NC Special
Olympics in June and the NC
Senior Games in September.
Happy New Year! TAC Events and Happenings for 2019

TAP / Learn-to-Swim Skill Spotlight: Flip Turns
in learning? Keep reading to
find out more!
1. Visual demonstrations can
sometimes be the most helpful,
check out this awesome video!
https://www.youtube.com/
watch?v=8EL3v1saCQw
2. Remember to start small if
you’re just beginning. Start by
standing in the pool, and flip to
introduce your body to the feel
of flipping. Then transition to
floating and flipping, and then
swimming to flipping (in the
middle of the lane).
3. Keep both of your arms
down by your side as you start
to initiate the flip, remember to
lead the flip with your head.
4. Use your feet to push off the
wall. Do so with power to get
a great start on your next lap.
Learn more about this skill by
asking your TAP Instructors!
Flip turns are an essential skill
to master when working on
efficiency and speed while in
the water. Flip turns are done
as a swimmer approaches a
wall and still has one or more
laps to go. They allow
swimmers to maintain speed
and momentum during their
workout or race.
TAP teaches flip turns at the
TITANS 1C and 2C levels.

2019 starts on a somber note
for our TAC staff as we wish
Jenn Patetta goodbye. Jenn has
been TAC’s Program Manager
for the past two years and will
be leaving TAC to prepare for
the next phase in her life.
Jenn wants to be become a
Physical Therapist and is taking a
job as a PT Technician to gain
the service credits she needs to

most of the articles you read in
the Lane Lines newsletters.

the near future helping to

TAC has released it’s schedule
of Lifeguard Certification
Classes through June 2019.
Last Spring, almost all of TAC’s
Lifeguard Certification classes
and Re-Certification classes
were completely full with wait
lists bigger than the classes at
times! This year, we don’t want
anyone to be left struggling to find a class, so we’ve opened
our Spring/Summer classes
earlier and we’ve opened up
more!

I Swim For… Triangle Aquatic Center Capital Campaign
the I Swim For…Campaign
comes in. I Swim For… is
predicated on a very simple
premise, each supporter giving
$5.00 per month, debited from your credit or debit card, and
that’s it.
The key to the success of the
program is the fact that this
dollar amount would allow and
encourage all to participate. So
instead of a select few getting
asked all the time, we want all
of you to participate, and
equally important, ask your
family members and friends to
do the same. This expansion
will benefit every TAC patron
and we know the importance
of TAC in your family’s
lives. To be able to participate
at such a reasonable level makes this choice an easy one
for you.

Campaign or to contribute

The I Swim For… Campaign was
developed to help keep pace
with the Triangle’s growing
population in pursuit of the
Triangle Aquatic Center’s
mission. The campaign is
focused on broadening our
programs throughout the
Triangle community and
expanding the current TAC
facility.
To carry out this very
important mission, participation
from our TAC Patrons and the
Triangle Swim Community is
essential to help make these
goals a reality. That is where
