As we reflect on the accomplishments of 2019 for Corning’s Gaffer District Inc. and Corning Intown District Management Association, we are thrilled to report ten years of extraordinary growth and development as we begin a new decade. This account of 2019 in Corning’s Gaffer District is based on the experiences that make our downtown the benchmark for growth and development for cities across the country. Whether we are sharing updates on our signature events, experience trails, downtown living, or continuous economic development, it all happens because of the passion people have for the City of Corning. Corning’s downtown continues to stand as a model of revitalization and sustainability efforts that are possible when people work together toward a common goal. As we embark on a new decade, we are filled with anticipation
and excitement about the impact of current and future economic development projects. We are equally excited to refresh our events and experience trails, highlighting the enormous list of ways you can #ExploreCorning. Most of all, we continue to enjoy watching our residents and visitors from the region and around the world share their best @CorningsGafferDistrict moments on social media! We are very excited to invite you on a new journey in 2020. As you #ExploreCorning share your photos with us, @CorningsGafferDistrict helps us to tell the story of why #ThisPlaceMatters. Thank you for your part in making Corning’s Gaffer District a remarkable place to live, work, play, and stay. The incredible community commitment to #ShopLocal, celebrate our history, and our future with equal levels of passion and investment positions us to sustain our tremendous journey well beyond 2020! Your partner in success,

Leveraged over $8 million in downtown Corning’s economic development through grant writing and administration
Partnered with our Northside business owners, Design Connect at Cornell University, Stantec Engineering and Design, the City of Corning, and the Rockwell Museum’s Alley Art program to share in the investment and invigoration of the District’s Northside.
Connected the District’s annual PAN Awards, a celebration of design excellence, with the National Trust’s May Preservation Month. A fitting partnership to highlight Corning’s heritage and commitment to adaptive reuse.
Supported our region by securing an estimated total of $1,187,084 in sponsorship dollars.
Produced the outstanding Buildings Alive Experience Trail, a self-guided audio tour of the landmark architectural and human interest stories of Corning (gafferdistrict.com/tour).
Created the wildly popular Chocolate Trail, added the Antiques & Vintage Collectibles Trail, Bon Appétit Dining Destination Trail, and - new in 2020 - the Crystal City Shopping Trail.
Awarded $20,000 in Gaffer District business gift cards to contest entrants during the CrystalCity Christmas Gift Card Giveaway.
Developed a locally-focused social marketing campaign, and #ExploreCorning has been tagged over 10,000 times by a combination of locals, tourists, and partnering organizations.
Hosted over 50,000 runners and 200,000 visitors during the annual Wineglass Race Series events.
Removed 288 cubic yards of debris from beneath Centerway Walking Bridge to help prevent area flooding.
