Agam Paralayang

The international paragliding events have been held in Puncak Lawang and have been made as an annual agenda by the local government to attract both domestic and foreign travelers. Many even claim that it is one of the best places to 'fly' in South East Asia. Musi Triboatton

The sports event featured rafting and renang serapungan competitions. The latter is a traditional method of tying together bamboo stems with rattan that the locals used to utilize to cross the Musi River. Location: Palembang

Peh Cun

Peh Cun is Chinese tradition to honor the death of the nobleman, Qu Yuan. The ritual takes place at the beach, is continued by praying and throw Chang cake (made of sticky rice and meat/shrimp filling) into the ocean. Location: Bangka Belitung

It is a festival of traditional self-defense art in Bukittinggi to maintain the heritage culture. Location: Bukittinggi

Festival Bumi Rafflesia

The annual event takes place in Bengkulu, which is known as the habitat of flower Rafflesia Arnoldy. The event includes culinary festival, mountain bike, art and culture performance, bazaar and fam trip to explore Bengkulu. Location: Bengkulu

Festival Sampan Leper

This annual event takes place in Riau. Sampan is a canoe, wide enough to transport two person. The person will canoing on a shallow river water covered in mud. Sometimes, there’s also theatrical performance of Mud Art Theatre being performed in this festival. Location: Riau

Festival Budaya Kerinci

Seeing through the beauty of Kerinci Lake with the Cultural Festival of Kerinci. This event is held to raise awareness to locals and visitors about the beauty of Lake Kerinci as well as its nature. This lake keeps many folklore where it was told that 2 dragons reside in this lake until now. Location: Jambi

Famous for its beautiful granite rocks and white sand, Belitong offers Belitong Fair and National Maritime Festival for visitors to visit. Location: Bangka Belitung

Sawahlunto International Songket Carnival

Although considered a new event, this Carnival is one of great way to get to know the Songket tradition in Sawahlunto. Songket is still traditionally made using the hands of locals, with many intricate weaving pattern. The songket then being showcases around Sawahlunto for locals and visitors to see. Tour de Singkarak

Tour de Singkarak is an official cycling championship of the International Cyclical Union (Union Cyclist International) which is held annually in West Sumatra. The first championship held in 2009 is a long-distance highway race that is generally held around April to June and lasts for a week. The championship has established a partnership with Amaury Sport Organization, which hosts Tour de France in France. Location: West Sumatra

Sail Indonesia 2018

During the three months following your departure from Darwin all participants are invited to participate in a linked series of Events and Cultural Festivals at the different stopovers across the country on the islands of Timor, Banda, Lembata, Wakatobi, Flores, Sulawesi, Bali, Java, Borneo, Belitung and finally on to Batam or Bintan just south of Singapore. Under the management of the Indonesian Sail Tourism Association, you will be able to experience different peoples and their cultures, different lifestyles, different arts, different crafts, wonderful foods and of course different languages. You are welcome to participate in all events and stopovers after your first port of entry in Kupang, as the Indonesia Organizing Committee at each port will provide you with hospitality, reception and festivities. You do not have to participate in all the events on our rally as there will simply not be enough time. After you arrive in your first port you can then join the events that suit your schedule. You will be able to see some of the more remote, interesting and less developed parts of Indonesia as you cross the country often away from the well-worn tourist areas. Location: Bangka Belitung

Festival Tabot Bengkulu

On the first to 10th of Muharram Islamic Month in Bengkulu, there is a unique ceremony that is always celebrated by the people of Bengkulu, the Tabot Festival. The Tabot Festival is unique because of the rules and goals similar to the Karbala ceremony in Iran. The purpose of these two ceremonies is the same, which is to recall the death of Husain bin Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Location: Bengkulu

Festival Pesona Mentawai

This festival features variety of cultural attractions tourism activities and traditional art performances brought by representatives from the 10 sub-districts that make up the Mentawai Islands District. Among the most anticipated events of this year's festivals are Mentawai Tribe War Dance, Traditional Ceremony, Traditional Mentawai Tattoo Demonstration, Traditional Boat Making, Traditional Archery, Dance Performance, and more. Mentawai Islands is a non-volcanic island chain in the Indian Ocean located off the west coast of Sumatra, consisting of 4 Islands, namely: Siberut, Sipora, North Pagai, and Pagai Selatan. Aceh International Surfing Championship

The Aceh International Surfing Championship was first held in 2013 in an effort to promote Aceh tourism, especially Simeulue Island to the world. The Aceh International Surfing Championship 2017 is scheduled to take place on 26 - 29 October 2017 in Simeulue waters. Each year, the championship is followed by the best surfers from various countries, from Australia, Europe, and America to South Africa. Simuelue is an island that has many tourism potentials. You will find beautiful deserted beaches, caves, forests, wildlife, and culture in small towns across the island, lakes, waterfalls and of course the perfect waves for surfers. Simeulue region consists of many islands, Simeulue Island became the largest island among other islands. Most of the small islands can be reached by boat and worth visiting. Simeulue is located off the west coast of Sumatra, north of Nias Island. Simeulue is a surfing destination for everyone, from beginners to advanced surfers, and even to people who are not surfers. The island is not only spoiled for the waves, but also offers a considerable tropical experience. Some of the things you can do in Simeulue are exploring the surrounding islands, snorkeling, diving, fishing, scooter riding, trekking the river and even diving into the secret cave. Location: Aceh

Gendang Melayu Nusantara

This cultural arts event is held in collaboration with Lubuk Linggau City Government in this Festival presents various series such as Cultural Art Performances, Cultural Parade, Band Appearance, Culinary Nusantara, Souvenir Making Competition and also Folk Entertainment Stage. The festival is usually held at Lapangan Merdeka Kota Lubuk Linggau is also followed by other areas such as; Palembang, Sawahlunto, Ogan Komering Ulu, Padang City, and Musi Rawas. Langkisau International Paragliding Open

The beautiful nature of Langkisau will be the background for the International Paragliding Open held in Langkisau, West Sumatra. With its spectacular landscape, many paraglider will attend the championship. Location: Langkisau, West Sumatra

Festival Surfing Bono

This festival takes place in the River where the high waves of sea water enter and meet at the downstream of River. The tidal wave is called Bono by the local community, which rushes with a loud rumble at a speed of 40 km / h. Surfing on this river can get you waves 4 to 6 meters high. Location: Bono River, Riau

Sail Sabang

This is a series of event to Sail across Indonesia that was first launched in Bunaken, Manado, in 2009. Sabang itself became the location of the zero point in the western tip of NKRI. The archipelago stretches over 5,000 km with a comparable distance from Sweden to Vladivostok. Location: Sabang, Aceh

Peringatan 13 Tahun Tsunami Aceh

On this anniversary of Tsunami Tragedy in Aceh back in 2004, thousands of people will gather at the mass graves and Mosques to pray for their loved ones. This commemoration served as a reminder to be prepared for other disasters in the future. Location: Banda Aceh

Kenduri Melayu

This festival means of caring for the history as well as the Melayu cultures in Riau. Kenduri Melayu is celebrated in the villages in Riau and Batam to preserve and passed on through the village festivities. There are many Melayu food presented, such as Spicy mackerel, boiled crabs, stir-fry squid, sambals and pickles. Location: Riau
