Student Accidents Bumps and scrapes do occur at school during the year. We
have Band-Aids, ice packs, and other supplies on hand to take care of minor inju-
ries. We have wonderful staff members who help our children when they get hurt
or are not feeling well.
Medications at School There are strict procedures for dispensing medication
at school. Under no circumstances can school personnel administer
any type of medication without a parent and physician signed form
being completed and on file in the office.
State guidelines require this form to be on file, the original container used, and
that all medication be kept in the school office. This includes all prescribed and
nonprescription medications such as pain relievers, cough syrup, cold medicines,
etc. Please contact the school office if your child will need to take any medication
at school. You’ll be given the correct form that needs to be completed by you and
the doctor.
Peninsula School District Attendance Policy and Procedures
Your efforts to make sure your student is on time, every day, all day, will greatly
improve their academic success. We want your student to attend school! Their
growth will be greater if he/she attends school regularly. Skills and lessons are
taught and reviewed daily. Below are some important pieces to our attendance
policy that you will need to know:
School starts at Evergreen at 9:00 am and dismisses at 3:30 pm. Please
make sure your student attends for the entire day.
If your student is not at school it is required that you either call the parent
call-in/attendance line at 253.530.1306 or send a written excuse to give us
the following information: reason for absence, date of absence and
projected length of absence.
Parents/Guardians with students who have (3) unexcused absences in a
month will receive a letter requesting a conference with student’s teacher,
parent/guardian, building principal and other support staff as necessary.
Parents/Guardians with students who have (7) unexcused absences in a
month or ten (10) or more unexcused absences in the year will receive a
letter notifying them that a truancy petition filing is in process.
Excessive tardies affect a child’s desire to attend school.
Parents/Guardians may excuse a student’s absence for a wide range of reasons
including illness, medical/dental appointments, vacations, bereavement and
religious holiday. If a student is absent more than three days for illness, a doctor’s
note will be required or a visit with our district nurse. Please try to plan vacations
and medical appointments around the school schedule.
Evergreen School Attire
Evergreen Elementary students can look forward to a busy and active year. We would like our students to participate fully in all that our school has to offer. The following will be helpful when sending children off to school in the morning.
Dress your child casually and comfortably for regular school days.
Students will be safer, have more fun, and be more active with shoes that do not restrict movement, such as with flip-flops, high heels and platform shoes.
Do not send your child to school in very low cut and/or tight pants, bag-gy pants, and extra long pants.
Skirts and shorts must be longer than where finger tips hit when the hands are down by their sides. Tank tops must have at least 2 inch straps, no spa-ghetti straps and belly-revealing tops.
Our approach for students who wear inappropriate attire to school is to speak with them and help them find an immediate solution to the issue, and ask them not to wear the garment again. Your child may be given an alternative garment to wear. Parents will be informed so that we can work together to ensure a positive learning climate at Evergreen.
As parents and grandparents ourselves, we know how difficult it is to allow children to be fashionable while at the same time keeping them comfortable, appropriate, and safe. Thank you for your efforts!
