“Most of the skills we learn here just don’t exist in the modern workplace. We’re breathing new life into these beauti ful

heritage vehicles.” Heritage engineering apprenti ce Max Green

In a pioneering scheme, the SVR is reversing the decline of heritage skills by training a new generati on of apprenti ces.

These young people are learning to maintain and restore rolling stock, permanent way and signalling systems. Quite simply, they are the SVR’s long-term future.

While the price of your ti cket covers the day-to-day operati on of the trains, the truth is that it can’t pay for training the Railway’s future engineers.

As litt le as £5 extra from each party of visitors would help cover the cost of the SVR Apprenti ceship Scheme.
