RELOCATING TO A NEW Y

transition to your new Y. A Welcome Center staff member can provide you with a letter of
good standing to take to your new Y requesting that your joiner fee be waived. However, be-
cause every Y is different, we cannot guarantee that they will honor this request.

with hundreds of volunteers who
provide leadership and stewardship.

communities by committing each day

volunteer at the Y, you are taking an
active role in the creation of
meaningful, enduring change right in
your own neighborhood. We welcome
your talents and any time you can

download a volunteer application.
LOCKER ROOMS LOCKER ROOMS
Our facility has seven different locker rooms (women’s 18+, women’s 14+, girls, men’s 18+,
men’s 14+, boys, and family) for changing, showering and storing your items while you
workout. A limited number of lockers are available to be rented. Please check at the Welcome
Center for further information. If you are not renting a locker please do not leave your be-
longings in it overnight as they will be removed by our custodial staff at the end of each day.
We encourage you to bring and use padlocks to secure your belongings.
Children ages 4 and under may accompany an adult of the opposite gender into the locker
room.
Children ages 5 and older must use gender-appropriate locker rooms.
Family Locker Rooms are available for those needing assistance from a person of the opposite
gender.
Cell phone use is prohibited in the locker rooms.
Food and drink are prohibited in the locker rooms.
Our staff works hard to keep the locker rooms clean. You can help by:
Returning towels to the collection bins.
Returning seats and benches to their proper location.
Drying off in the shower area before returning to the locker area.
Drying wet counter tops after use.
Putting a towel under your feet prior to using foot powder.
Notifying staff if there are cleanliness or maintenance issues that need attention.
We want to keep you and your belongings safe! Below is some useful information in keeping
your valuables secure:
Lock your locker! Unlocked lockers are easy for anyone to access.
Don’t bring valuables to the Y. Only bring what you need to workout.
Instruct your children to use the lockers secured with padlocks to store belongings.
Use a security bag! Security bags for storing small items (i.e. keys, wallets, etc.) are available
FREE for you to store your items at the Welcome Center area.
CHILD WATCH One great service the Concord Family YMCA provides is FREE Child Watch. Child Watch was cre-
ated so parents can leave their children in a safe and friendly environment while they workout.
It is not an enrichment center, our staff are babysitters-not teachers. Child Watch is for children
ages 6 months to 6 years old. You may bring your children to Child Watch for up to 2 hours a
day while you exercise or participate in programs. Child Watch is available for those with Family,
Single Parent, Adult Memberships only. On your child’s initial visit to Child Watch, please com-
plete a registration form that provides staff information about your child.
Child Watch Guidelines
Child Watch is open Monday-Friday: 8:00am-1pm and 4:00pm-6:30pm and
Saturday: 8:30am-11:30am. We reserve the right to close the babysitting room if it is not
being utilized by 12:30pm or 6:00pm on weekdays and 11am on Saturday.
Parents may provide pre-made bottles for
infants. Bottles must be labeled and stored out
of reach from other children. If able, staff will
hold and feed infants.
Other than bottles for infants, no food is
allowed in the Child Watch area.
Occasionally, children in Child Watch
become upset. Staff will try holding,
soothing, and entertaining upset
children. If they are unable
to soothe an upset child for up to
10 minutes, they will contact
the parent to sign the child
out of Child Watch for the day.
Please pick up additional information
on Child Watch behavior and illness policies
at the Child Watch room.

They seek to provide answers to your fitness questions while providing information and guidance for you to feel comfortable using the Wellness Center. During these sessions you will be able to:
Consult with a Personal Trainer about your wellness goals.

Create a plan to help you develop a healthier lifestyle through proper exercise and nutritional habits.
The Y is much more than a wellness facility. We schedule our Personal Trainers to be available in the Wellness Center to answer any questions you may have. Unlike many other fitness facilities, the Y’s Personal Trainers are not paid on commission. The Y offers additional personal training and small group options for a fee if you would like additional motivation and support to reach your goals. SUMMER DAY CAMP
INTRODUCING CAMP MOWKAWOGAN
To name our camp, we tipped our hats to the past and chose a word from the local Native
Americans, but wanted to look to the future at the same time. After much debate we chose the
name MOWKAWOGAN—the Abenaki word meaning community. Our camp introduces campers to
traditional summer camp activities, and helps to prepare our youth as they discover, learn and
grow becoming active members in today’s community.
Day camp like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making
friends. But few environments are as special as summer camp, where
kids become a community as they learn both how to be more
independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in
physical, social and educational activities. Every new experience
comes with a chance to learn and grow.
At the Y, we strive to give every child and teen opportunities
to test their own limits and explore their potential.
SUMMER ENRICHMENT—SPECIALTY SPORTS CAMP For kids who have completed 3rd-8th grade
Our sports camps are centered on fun, skill
development and fitness. Camp will also take
advantage of the outdoors by utilizing the Ab-
bot—Downing fields. Campers will be grouped by
age and abilities. Campers will not only play games,
but work on building fundamental skills, teamwork
and game specific strategies.
