Rome-Naples Section of the High Speed Railway: advisory and support to Site Supervision of the railway superstructure

Client: Consortium of IRICAV UNO - S.F. STUDI FERROVIARI S.a.s.Period: 1996 - 2004

The railway line has been operating since December 2005. It runs from Rome to Naples for 184 Km; the final section entering Naples is currently under construction.

The double track line includes: 5 operating control points, 4 central communication points and 4 interconnection points with the historical line. The railway superstructure was built starting from the waterproofing layer, using a first layer of crushed stone, then sleepers and rails were laid, then track were lifted to the height indicated in the design, and ultimately the adjustment operations for the long welded rail and finishes were performed.

Its execution was completed using two moving construction sites to produce approximately 780 metres of railway tracks per day. Inspections during transport and installation were performed by the local Site Manager, who applied the Quality Control procedures of the General Contractor, Pegaso Scrl.
