Introduction
• The goal - to present information about
the soil acidity in the different regions of
Croatia
The processes leading to soil acidity
• Natural acidification
• Anthropogenic acidification

Acid soils in Croatia
• The total area of acid soils
• 831 704 ha,
• 32% of the agricultural land
Distribution of acid soils in
Croatian agricultural regions
Pannonian region
• Acid soils in Pannonian agricultural
region 660 617 ha,
• represents 79.5% of the total area of
acid soils in Croatia.
• Pseudogley 42%, Luvisol 40% - of the
total 660 617 ha of acid soils in the
Pannonian region.
Distribution of acid soils in
Mountain agricultural region
Mountain region
• Area of acid soils occupy 129 487 ha,
• 15.5% of the total area of acid soils in
Croatia
• Luvisol 37%, Distric brown soil 31%
and Pseudogley 22%.
Distribution of acid soils in
Adriatic agricultural region
Adriatic region
• Area of acid soils occupy 41 600 ha,
which represents 5% of the total area
of acid soils in Croatia.
• In relation to the total area of this
region, the Luvisol occupies 83%.

Conclusions
• Every farmer should know the parameters
of acidity, and accordingly take cultivation
measures; and if it is necessary, to apply
lime in order to preserve land quality.
• According to the presented results, the
greatest need for the application of lime
materials is in the Pannonian agricultural
region.
