The Japan Study Program is designed for exchange students who have attained a minimum of N3 in the JLPT,

and starts from April and September every year. It aims to provide students with an understanding of Japanese

culture, and to improve their Japanese language skills by practical lessons and small classes. Students can

choose either one semester or two semesters.

Next Period September 2020

Duration One semester (-February 2021) OR Two semesters (-August 2021)

Requirement A minimum of N3 in the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test)

*N1 holders can attend undergraduate classes without taking Japanese classes.

About Enrollment 1. Students enroll at least 7 classes a week, including Japanese classes for

exchange students and general classes and they are acceptable as credits*.

*As for the credits, consult your advisor at your home university.

2. N2 and N3 holders will mainly focus on Japanese classes for exchange

students but they may also attend general classes depending on their Japanese

Level.

Activities Various extracurricular activities and excursions on weekends will be arranged.

●Japan Study Program (April- / September-)

The Economics & Japanese Program is designed for exchange students who major in economics and study

Japanese. The duration is one semester and starts from April every year. Classes with the theme of economics

are conducted in small seminar format (mainly in English) and classes will be taken with the Japanese students.

Besides specialized classes (Seminar), classes are also available to improve practical Japanese skills.

Life in Sendai

About Sendai

The beautiful city of Sendai is known as “Mori no Miyako (the City of

Trees)”. It is the economic and cultural capital of North-Eastern Japan,

lying near the Pacific Ocean about 350 km (215 miles) north of Tokyo.

Getting to Sendai from Tokyo takes about 90 minutes by bullet train.

What’s more, Sendai entertains its citizens throughout the year by

hosting many local events such as the famous Tanabata Festival, the

Jazz Festival, and the Light Pageant.

(two in Sendai City and one in Tagajo City) and is the biggest private

university in northern Japan having about 12,000 students. We are

●日本研究プログラム（4 月開講／9 月開講）

日本研究プログラムは、交換留学生用のプログラムです。日本語能力試験（JLPT）において N3 以上の級を取

得しているひとが対象で、毎年 4 月と 9 月にスタートします。実践的な授業内容と少人数のクラス編成で、日

本語力向上と日本文化理解を目指します。留学期間が 1セメスターまたは 2セメスターのどちらかを選べます。

次の開講時期 2020 年 9 月

開講期間 1 セメスター（～2021 年 2 月） または 2 セメスター（～2021 年 8 月）

条件 日本語能力試験(JLPT)N3 以上 必須

※N1 取得者は交換留学生向け日本語科目を受講せず、一般授業のみ受講することができます。

履修について 1.このプログラムの参加者は交換留学生向け日本語科目と一般授業を合わせて

週 7 科目以上履修し、単位*を取得できます。

*単位認定については、所属大学の担当者に確認してください。

2. N2、N3 取得者は交換留学生向け日本語科目を中心に受講しますが、各自の日

本語レベルによって一般授業を履修することが可能です。

アクティビティ 週末の学外研修や茶道・華道体験など、留学生用のアクティビティがあります。

●経済学＆日本語プログラム（4 月開講）

このプログラムは、経済学と日本語を学んでいる交換留学生を対象とした毎年 4 月にスタートする 1 セメスタ

ーのプログラムです。経済学をテーマとする授業(Seminar A,B,C)は少人数のゼミ形式で行われ（主言語は英語）、

日本人学生と一緒に受講します。専門科目(Seminar)の他に、実践的な日本語力を向上するための授業も充実

しています。

条件 ・経済学の基礎知識

・上級レベルの英語

・日本語能力 CEFR A2 程度

履修について 1. このプログラムの参加者は経済学部で開講されている専門科目（Seminar）

3科目に加えて、交換留学生向け日本語科目と一般授業から 4科目以上履修し、

単位*を取得できます。*単位認定については、所属大学の担当者に確認してください。

2. 専門科目（Seminar）の主言語は英語ですが、日本人学生と一緒に学びます。

専門科目（Seminar）の開講キャンパスは交換留学生向け日本語科目の開講

キャンパスと異なる可能性があります。

仙台での生活

仙台について

仙台市は「杜の都」と呼ばれるほど自然に恵まれた美しい都市で、東北地方

の経済や文化の中心地です。首都東京からは 350 キロ北方の太平洋側に位置

しており、交通の便も良く新幹線で 1 時間半ほどです。仙台市は東北地方の

都市としては年中過ごしやすい気候です。また、市民参加型のイベントが多

くあり、有名な七夕祭りを始め、仙台・青葉まつり、ジャズフェスティバル、

光のページェントなど年間を通して市民を楽しませています。

東北学院大学について
