When we decided to go, what we knew about how to get there was dwarfed by what we needed to know and do. But, we did not let skepticism and failure along the way prevent our eventual success. We did not, we could not, give up. Today, our mission is to strengthen the Exchange Club of the Quad Cities. There are at least 2 steps to accomplish this: 1- we need new members and 2- we could accomplish more with additional funds. These are the two points raised by President Joe Johnson at the President’s Planning Meeting. Invitation, by Sue Knapp Sue Knapp, together with Lois Dixon, created invitation cards (shown at right). Not only do the cards invite prospective new members to a meeting, but provide a brief description of the Exchange Club Pillars of Strength, some of our activities and web info. Members: Please give it a try! To Sue and Lois: THANK YOU! Nice job! Pizza Ranch Fundraiser Potentially, this can be a good fundraiser for our Club. “Potentially” because, as we learned from Pat Tank, who does volunteer work at Lydia Home and their Pizza Night, the single factor that determines the success of the event is the number of customers served that evening. So, we need to invite as many friends, neighbors, co-workers, hobby club members, etc. as possible to achieve good results. Invite them NOW! Send them an email (you are probably reading this on the computer right now). Forward them the flier we developed. Print the flier and ask to post it in local businesses. The Future We will continue to try to think of additional ways to bring in members and raise funds. I can’t help not repeating the line from “The Right Stuff”, which is: “No bucks – No Buck Rogers.” These things are things we can do. Let’s Go To The Moon! July 20 marks the 45th Anniversary of the first Moon landing.

The Future

We will continue to try to think of additional ways to bring in members and raise funds. I can’t help not repeating the line from “The Right Stuff”, which is: “No bucks – No Buck Rogers.”

These things are things we can do.

August 7 Freedom Run Support

August 11 Pizza Ranch Fund Raiser

Pizza Ranch Fund

Raiser We will be holding a fund raiser at

Pizza Ranch in Bettendorf on Monday, August 11. For non-profits that do this, we get to keep the tips and Pizza Ranch generously gives us 10% of their receipts. For this to be a success, we NEED 2 things: Workers and Customers. So, put this on your calendar. And consider how to pack the ranch with customers (maybe get a group from a club, neighbors, etc.).

Freedom Run From their website:

http://www.freedomrun5k.org/:

The Freedom Run 5K is the Quad Cities' first, and only, military-themed run/walk event. It was specifically founded to benefit our area's military personnel (Active and Veteran) as well as their families. This years' 5K race will take place on Thursday, August 7 at 1830 (6:30PM) in East Moline. Like last year, we will hold flags along the route to show our support of this worthy cause. As the date nears, we will we will tell you how to “enlist” - as a flag holder, that is.

Matching tucked in shirts, preferably promoting our club. Wear our blue Exchange collared shirts. If you are volunteering and not a club member, wear a shirt as similar to the club shirts as possible. 3. Clean, comfortable shoes with a closed toe. No sandals or flip flops, for safety reasons. 4. Hair that touches the shoulders needs to be pulled back into a pony tail.

Aledo Frog Races The Aledo Exchange Club held its 20th Annual Dr. Ford Frog Races on the 4th of July.

From the youngest (smallest) children with some using the tiniest frogs to some using the biggest frogs to the Adult Class which The Quad City's Exchange Clubs Joe & Kathy Johnson participate in, everyone has a FUN Time~!~!”

Congratulations Joe and THANKS for Your Help

It was announced that there were 156 entries this year and like always the younger (little) children make up the lion’s share of those numbers! YES 60 IN the Youngest age group.

Good!

Now, try to get Dean Martin singing:

“ When a moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie

out of your head!
