Two local teenagers, Danielle Poi-

pao and Molly Malinovski, had a

13th birthday party and decided to

ask friends and family to donate to

Mother Teresa Maternity Home in

lieu of a present for themselves.

They collected baby items, cash

and gift cards for the maternity

home. These two young philan-

thropists are an inspiration to all of

us. Mother Teresa Maternity Home

staff and residents are very grateful

for their amazing generosity! Thank

you Danielle & Molly!

with some of the other residents, and en-

joyed getting to know all the staff. It is a

big support system here at the home and I

am glad to be a part of the experience.

Most of all I am thankful for the founders

of the program because without them the

home wouldn’t exist.

Sincerely,

Allison

(Another letter written in resident’s own

words)

To be simple the Mother Teresa

Maternity Home is a place for pregnant

women to have help throughout their preg-

nancies and a safe place to live. I came to

the home with one pair of shoes and the

outfit on my back. My main goal was to

bring my Son Tucker into a healthy envi-

ronment. Being in the program has made

that possible and lots of other things. I use

to have to travel on the bus to get to/from

my appointments, work, and everyday ar-

rands such as going to the grocery store. It

is a load off my shoulders to find out that

the program provided transportation. I am

so thankful for Joni and the staff of the

home that go the extra step for all the resi-

dents. Since moving to the home I have

found employment, made close friends

was a blessing. I enjoyed the peaceful environ-

ment and I felt like I was at home. I appreciate

all that each and every staff person has done for

us especially Joni for devoting her time to help

us young ladies. Amara and I love everyone

very much. I am thankful for everyone who

supports the home because they are truly help-

ing out the young mothers, their babies

whether they are in the womb or out.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth and Amara

Dear Joni and Mother Teresa Staff,

I would first like to thank each and every one

that is a part of Mother Teresa Maternity

Home. The home and staff made it possible

for me to take care of my daughter, Amara,

and me. The home gave us a home where we

grew together as a family, became close with

the staff and the other residents. I was able to

build a foundation, find resources, and have

stability. I was provided with food and cloth-

ing when I first got to the home. Everything

Danielle and Molly personally

delivered all the items collected

to the maternity home.

Thanks to our generous donors, the children's

library at the MTMH home is now stocked with a

couple of hundred

books suitable for

children infant to

3rd grade. A second

workshop has been

held at the El Do-

rado County Library for residents who received

gift bags of materials supplied by the California

First Five Program. With the funds raised at the

October Luncheon, we will be able to provide

MTMH book bags and new, hardcover classic chil-

dren's books for the residents when they success-

fully complete their stay at the maternity home.

Betty Ackley

donated for a home library and funds

were collected to pay for book bags

and books to be given to the residents

when they complete their stay at the

home and participate in a workshop at

the El Dorado County Library. Thank

you to all the volunteers and donors

from the community who helped make

this such a splendid day for the home.

Chairman Betty Ackley

On October 6, 2013 we held the 15th

annual MTMH Fall luncheon with over

250 guests in attendance at Gurnell

Hall in Placerville. Special recognition

was given to Ann Johnson whose idea

15 years ago launched this highly suc-

cessful fundraiser event for the home.

The lovely theme decorated tables,

salad luncheon, live auction, and raffle

baskets were enjoyed by everyone.

Added this year was a Fund-a-Need for

a children's literacy program for the

home and its residents. Books were
