Studying in India will now be easier for foreign students who want to pursue education in prominent Indian educational institutions with the launch of 'Study in India' programme here.  External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Satya Pal Singh jointly launched the portal www.studyinindia.gov.in. ''Study in India'' is aimed at attracting students from countries in South Asia, South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa to study in the top educational institutions in India. The portal will become a single window to cover all aspects relating to studying in India for foreign students. The Study in India programme would provide a one-stop solution through the creation of a centralised portal www.studyinindia.gov.in. The website will be supported by an app and a helpline number. The website will provide information on the latest offerings on Indian education and facilitate admissions to the foreign students and help them make informed choices based on individual aptitudes and career goals. BIG REFORMS MADE INDIA FASTEST EMERGING ECONOMY Big reforms undertaken by the government for bolstering the economic growth and maintaining macroeconomic stability have made India one of the fastest growing major economies in the world, Economic Affairs Secretary S C Garg said.  The launch of the GST represents a historic economic and political achievement, unprecedented in Indian tax and economic reforms, which has rekindled optimism on structural reforms. India has started adopting policies and programmes for transforming systems of delivery of services using digital technologies and connecting every Indian with digital technology and access through Aadhaar and other such means. INDIA IS WORLD'S SIXTH LARGEST ECONOMY : IMF India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the worth of the economy, clocked in at $2.6 trillion for 2017, according to the database of the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook (WEO) for April 2018. That is well over the $2.5 trillion milestone that supposedly separates big economies from pretenders. India is now the world’s sixth largest economy, displacing France. The five economies ahead are the United States, China, Japan, Germany and United Kingdom. Source: Hindustan Times

The Bhabha Atomic Reseach Centre (BARC) has developed a next-generation bulletproof jacket for the Indian armed forces, which is not only cheaper but also much lighter. Bhabha Kavach, named after nuclear physicist Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, the jacket weighs just 6.6 kg in comparison to the 17-kg jackets in use, and has passed over 30 tests carried out by certified agencies. It is available in three variants as per the requirement of the armed forces. The jacket is made using extremely hard boron carbide ceramics that is hot-pressed with carbon nano-tubes and composite polymer. BARC has been using boron carbide in the control rods of its nuclear reactors. While the cost of a Bhabha Kavach is ₹70,000, jackets of similar strength are available in the range of ₹1.5 lakh and have to be imported. “The superior performance of the light weight jacket derives from advanced ceramics and advanced nano-composite tubes indigenously developed at BARC,” Dr. Kinshuk Dasgupta, scientific officer at BARC’s materials group said. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has claimed that it has saved $120 million in public money in the upcoming moon mission "Chandrayaan-2," which is expected to be launched in October-November this year. Chandrayaan-2 will be equipped with a land-rover and probe, which will descend onto the surface of the moon, from where they will collect samples of soil, water, etc. to carry back home for detailed analysis and research. The ISRO launched its first moon mission, Chandrayaan-I, in October 2008.  After going around the Moon 10 times, the Chandrayaan-1 was the first to declare to the world the presence of frozen water on the Moon. KASHMIRKashmir is heaven on earth when it comes to scenic landscapes, snow-capped mountains, clear water streams and beautiful views. It lies in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, India. It is the perfect destination for a vacation with the family, a romantic honeymoon or a solo adventure-seeking trekking expedition.

1. Srinagar Srinagar is the capital of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. It is the hub of all tourists looking for a vacation away from their city lives. Quite often because of this, Srinagar has become crowded and a little too tourist-Y but it remains the go-to destination for Srinagar anyone who wants to explore the state. The iconic Dal Lake where one can hire shikaras and buy souvenirs from floating markets or the Old City charm of the bridges over the river Jhelum, Srinagar has a spot for everyone and anyone. An expedition or vacation that involves touring the state of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be complete without the requisite buying of Pashmina shawls from the city. Srinagar is the commercial hub of the state and remains the heart of Jammu and Kashmir.

2. Leh Leh has recently witnessed a splurge of tourists after few movies were filmed here. Leh is situated at an altitude of 3524 ft. It is a picturesque place with clear water lakes and tough terrains but the views are absolutely breathtaking. A lot of trekking trails originate from Leh but the major attractions of the place are still the historical monuments like the Shanti Stupa and the Leh Palace. With beautiful scenery and loads of monasteries and lakes to discover, grab your DSLR and head to Leh!

3. Gulmarg Gulmarg is a hill station that is known as one of the most popular skiing destinations of the country. It was originally known as ‘Gaurimarg’ in the honor of Goddess Parvati. The story behind the success of Gulmarg as a winter getaway starts with the British when they came to the city to escape from the summers of North India. The trend continued and today Gulmarg is one of the most popular destinations of the State. The snow fall here makes it the best place for winter sports like skiing and snow-boarding. Gulmarg is like heaven on earth when snow falls and thus, is a must-see while on vacation.
