We are back for another year of History’s Mysteries as campers. Head back into the past in our 13-acre Victorian Village. Explore, discover, and make new friends. Learn while participating in arts, crafts, activities, games, and fun! Each week is a brand new adventure at Midway Village.

NEWFULL WEEK CAMPHistory’s Mysteries

Children entering 1st grade – completion of 5th gradeIn our week long elementary age camps, your children will explore an overarching theme each week. Everyday they will participate in activities, games, crafts, and other projects related to the theme of the week. At the end of each week you are invited to join us for Friday lunch and an exhibit curated by your children of all the activities and crafts that they completed that week. Campers bring their own lunch and snacks.

June 18 – June 22 Myths and Legends: We are going to explore famous myths and legends from all across the world. Why have they survived and what do the tell us?

June 25 – June 29 More Weird History: Last summer we explored weird history including the time Napoleon was attacked by rabbits. What crazy historical facts will we explore this year?

July 9 – July 13 More Storybook Adventures: This summer we will explore another set of popular Victorian era children’s tales, including Sherlock Holmes, Three Musketeers, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and more!

July 16 – July 20 Ancient Mysteries: How were the ancient cultures from around the world similar and different? How did we learn about them? And what exactly is Rockford’s famous connection to the infamous King Tut?

July 23 – July 27 Wild and Crazy Kids: There have been amazing kids doing amazing things all throughout history. We will explore some of these historic kids, what they did, and how it impacted the world today.

July 30 – August 3 Following the Drum: Through the years, wars have come to define time periods. In this camp we will explore what life was life for different era soldiers?

August 6 – August 10 You wouldn’t want to be: Borrowing from the popular book series we will explore the very real conditions and sometimes less than ideal aspects of people’s lives in the past.

June 11 – June 15 Silent Film Stars Children entering 6th grade – completion of 8th gradeIn this brand new full week day camp, your camper will go through the entire process of cre-ating a silent film in one week. They will create the script, make the sets, find costumes and props, film the movie, and create the sounds. On Friday all families are welcome to a movie premiere, tentatively set at 5:30pm-6:30pm.
