Brandt Pharmacy
What was once known as a cornerstone of Marengo’s History, the
Majestic Hotel and Triangle Grocery store, has been Brandt Pharmacy since
1962. There is a picture from the 1940’s of this hotel and grocery store in
the “Marengo – The First 100 Years” published by the Marengo Society for
Historic Preservation, on page 54.
Current owners, the late Richard and Maureen Mikyska have owned this
pharmacy since 1969. Their daughter, Brenda is the day to day manager
and pharmacy technician. She oversees 10 employees including 3
pharmacists.
Brandt’s is an ageless store, with excellent customer service, and just
about every modern necessity is available. Need school supplies or a gift?
They have it and if they don’t, they will get it for you. Also available are
garbage stickers, Fannie May, candles, light bulbs, books, magazines,
newspapers, party stuff, lottery tickets, Queen of Hearts tickets, jewelry by
Annaleece, watch or hearing aid batteries, personal care products, medical
supplies and of course prescriptions.
Each year they open their doors for many local events, such as Settler’s
Days, Ladies Night Out, Halloween Trick or Treating, Toys for Tots and many
other events.
The Mikyska’s have been a part of Marengo and the local business for
many decades and have plans to continue for many more decades. Both of
Richard and Maureen’s children, Robert and Brenda attended and
graduated Marengo High School.
Located at 101 N. State Street, downtown Marengo, their hours are:
Monday – Friday 9am – 6pm, Saturday 9am – 1pm and closed on Sunday,
