Introduction Dear Student, Congratulations on gaining a place on the Extended Diploma in Art & Design! This will be an exciting two years. You will have opportunity to experiment with a wide variety of art, design and media disciplines, which will enable you to discover exactly the right career path that suits your skills and interests. You will be spending every day pursuing your love of art and design and the course team will help and support you as much as possible. The course will require a very responsible and individual approach to working practice; high levels of attendance and commitment are crucial. You will be required to research and develop your work in your own time. Commitment and hard work will determine better grades and a really strong portfolio of work for progression to higher education or the workplace. We have a number of trips planned, details of which will be distributed during the year. They will include London and local places like Poole, Bournemouth and Hengistbury Head, and this cost is built into your initial fee. I hope you enjoy the summer and have a chance to take a holiday before you join us. You will notice that we have a summer project included within your welcome pack. Enjoy it and have some fun with it! I look forward to meeting you all on the 2nd September 2013.
