Dulux Roof & Trim is a highly durable, 100% acrylic, self-priming paint suitable for all types of roofs including galvanised iron, Zincalume®, Colorsteel® and concrete tiles and trims such as plastic spouting, timber fascias, masonry and structural metals. Specially formulated for the safe collection of drinking water and resistant to colour fading, mould, dirt and stains, Dulux Roof & Trim has been specifically designed to provide long-lasting protection against New Zealand’s harsh weather conditions.

How to get the best results from Dulux Roof & Trim

Surface preparation Good surface preparation will help Dulux Roof & Trim last longer and make the application process easier.

• Disconnect the down pipes if roof is used for drinking water collection.

• Wash roof with Dulux Prepwash according to instructions on pack.

• Use a stiff bristled brush or waterblaster to remove any flaking paint.

• Ensure the roof is clean and dry before painting.

Painting tips• Choose a day when the weather is

right. Do not paint on excessively cold or humid days. Do not paint when it is likely to rain.

• Make sure you have prepared the surface correctly before painting.

• Stir paint thoroughly with a broad flat paddle using an up and down scooping action.

• Spot prime galvanised steel showing red rust using Dulux Quit Rust®

All Metal Primer.

• No primer is required. However, for best results on metal, especially in coastal or geothermal areas we recommend the application of one coat of Dulux Quit Rust® All Metal Primer.

• Apply two generous coats of Dulux Roof & Trim on the prepared surface.

• If collecting drinking water, wait until after the first heavy rain or rinse roof with fresh water once paint has fully cured, before reconnecting down pipes.

How to get the best results from Dulux Timbacryl

Surface preparation • Wash down with Dulux Prepwash

to remove all dust, dirt, moss, mould, mildew or any flaking paint.

• If sanding, always sand along the grain to remove any loose fibres.

Painting tips• Choose a day when the weather is

right. Do not paint on excessively cold or humid days or when it is likely to rain.

• Make sure you have prepared the surface thoroughly before painting.

• Paint on the shady side of the house during the hottest time of the day. In hot, windy conditions cool the surface by hosing before painting.

• Stir paint thoroughly with a broad flat paddle using an up and down scooping action.

• Dulux Timbacryl is self priming on most substrates. See product for further details.

• Apply three coats of Dulux Timbacryl on uncoated timber or two coats on precoated timber. Apply at the recommended coverage rate rather than one thick coat.

• Work in sections of 1-2 m2 at a time.

• To finish each section smoothly, apply lightly in one direction back into the previous section.
