Nursery Rhymes Literacy – This week we
are learning Hickory Dickory Dock Rhyming

We have learnt many rhymes, where the end of the words sounds the same. Let’s practise by playing the bat rhyming game above. Scroll down if no access to internet. Task: Write down as many words that rhyme with clock! You can write a list e.g. Clock Sock Tock lock Challenge: Can you write a sentence including some of your rhyming words?

Shapes Maths –
Today we are going to recap shape. Can you remember the names of the 2D shapes? Try to remember them without looking them. If you can have a go at writing the words, use your sounds to help you. Can you explain how many sides and corners they have? Fun activity – Cut out the 2D shapes carefully. Can you use the shapes to create the story of Hickory Dickory Dock? Don’t change the shapes even for the mouse, you could change the size.

Values: Dedication. Parent to read the story of the Ant and the Grasshopper. Discuss how the ant shows hard work and dedication. Was the Grasshopper showing dedication? How about the ant and why? How did being dedicated help the Ant?

Phonics Recap all the sounds, green words, red words. Try spelling as many red words as you can from memory. Ensure child is spelling red words from memory, shout some out e.g. go, to, the, into, he, she, then child to spell. Reading captions. Have a go at reading these captions. Point to each sound (segmenting) then say the whole word this is called blending. Can you then try and read the words as a whole sentence?
