I was born in Glasgow, Scotland and began playing soccer at age 6. My Dad played semi- professional soccer and he inspired me to continue the family tradition. I started playing for a local youth team and was recruited to play on a pro-youth team for Celtic Football Club. I continued with Celtic and eventually was recruited to play college soccer at Potomac State University in Keiser, WV in the US. I was ranked number 3 in the US for goal scoring in the NJCAA while I played there. I obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Athletic Coaching Education (ACE) from West Virginia University. During that time I was a graduate assistant for the WVU Men’s Soccer Team under Coach Marlon Leblanc. In the summer of 2015 I had the opportunity to play with a professional organization in Sweden. I recently obtained my C License through the USSF and I have my Premier Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR I was first interested in coaching while attending North Glasgow College in Scotland, before I came to the US, studying Football Studies. I was 18 and it was the first Football Studies course offered at the College. In addition to playing, I was exposed to the coaching side of soccer and we studied Biomechanics, strategy and four days a week we attended coaching intensives taught by a number of great Scottish Coaches, including Drew Todd a first team Academy Coach for Rangers FC. I gained two Scottish Coaching Certifications while I was there & Mr. Todd was a mentor to me. Watching players develop and figure out how to apply the skills we work on in practice –when things start to click for them – is a very rewarding feeling. My day to day role for the youth academy has two components - coaching duties & administrative duties. On the coaching side I plan the coaching curriculum each week and communicate with the Academy coaches about how the players are doing and what we need to focus on at each age level. On the administrative side, my day to day includes scheduling & coordinating Academy events with persons inside CSL as well as the other clubs. I also communicate with parents and coaches about their questions/concerns and work with outside entities - two separate parks/rec departments in the county. I have found one of the most important parts of being the academy director is maintaining a strong level of communication with not only the academy coaches but the academy parents to ensure we are all on the same page
