Home to artisan bakers, a craft brewery, gourmet popcorn manufacturers, royal uniform makers and the last remaining piano factory in London, Tottenham has an eclectic array of top quality independent manufacturers.
The From Around Here shop and directory provide a flavour of these unique offerings and is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution these businesses make to our economy. Tottenham hosts an extraordinary array of business. Many of these businesses are tucked away in Tottenham’s diverse and thriving industrial areas. Often there is little public awareness of the quality and breadth of these places and the successful businesses that make them.
The From Around Here shop aims to shed some light on the fascinating companies, high-quality products and diverse skills that exist in Tottenham.
Every workspace‡ in Tottenham’s key industrial areas has been visited and catalogued. A selection of the things made or processed in Tottenham is for sale in the From Around Here shop. It is hoped that this showcase will help develop stronger links between businesses in the area and promote Tottenham’s enterprises across London.
The From Around Here shop will occupy the 639 Enterprise Centre for 6 weeks. This catalogue lists many of the businesses in Tottenham and can be used by all to link with local companies and locally made goods.

‡ This list of businesses was compiled via a survey, on foot, by architecture practice Gort Scott of the following industrial estates in Tottenham: South Tottenham Industrial Area, Rangemoor Road Industrial Area, Rosebery Industrial Park, Greater Ashley Rd, Hale Wharf, Millmead and Lockwood Estates, Brantwood Road, Garman Road and Unicorn Works, Leeside Industrial Estate, Peacock Industrial Estate. They gathered much information and talked to many people, but there may be businesses still to be added, and this list can only represent a snapshot in time.
Flourish Craft Bakery
Flourish is an artisan bakery producing many different types of bread, established in 2000 in Tottenham. It is a small, friendly, artisan bakery providing a personal service to local people with an ethos of
quality not quantity.
Flourish employs 35 people, nearly all local to Tottenham, producing 100kg of bread and 200kg
of pastry every day. Their breads are distributed to over 100 different outlets daily and sold at farmers’
markets in London and the south east.

Meridian BathsMeridian Baths manufacture and fit baths,
and bathroom equipment, including plumbing, pumping systems and lighting.
Meridian employs 8 people, most of whom are long-standing members of staff, skilled in the techniques
used in the factory, making over 500 baths a year.
Redemption Brewery
Redemption is an urban craft brewery and brewer of Cask Ale that was set up in Tottenham in 2009, making their first brew here in 2010. The company gained
a rapid footing in the market and now brews a core range of six beers.
Most of Redemption’s product is sold in London, but some of their beers have traveled as far afield as Belgium, Italy and the US. They supply numerous Freehold pubs as
well as some Fullers, Youngs and Wetherspoons pubs. Redemption employs 6 people and makes between 12,000 and 15,000 pints per week.

Glickman’s independent tool and hardware shop was opened in 1932 by Mr and Mrs Glickman. Derek Lewis, born and raised in Tottenham, took over from their son, Gerry Glickman, and has been working in H.Glickman since he was 13.
H. Glickman is the last independent hardware store in the area.
Sheraton Blinds
Sheraton is a manufacturer of window blinds. The company was established in the 1970s and has been on its current site in Tottenham for 20 years.
Sheraton services produces blinds for retail under their own label, Joos Blinds, as well as making white-label products for companies like John Lewis, Habitat, Dwell and Cargo.
Sheraton employs 25 people in their office and factory, including skilled industrial designers, sewers and cutters, manufacturing up to 2500 blinds each week.

Wildes CheeseWildes Cheese was started up in 2012 by
cheesemaker Philip Wilton. He calls himself the Urban Cheesemaker. The business was started with
the intention to make quality cheese using traditional methods, avoiding all artificial additives, and in the most ethical way he could.
Wildes Cheese sources milk from non-industrial farmers close to London and is work-
ing towards his business being as efficient and low-waste as possible.
Wildes Cheese primarily makes soft cheeses, which are sold in markets across North London.

M+B ConfectionersM+B Confectioners is a family-run business, making icings, marzipans and other baking sugarcraft, as well as Christmas confectionery.The company has been in operation for over 30 years.
Over 60% of their produce is exported to the EU, mainly to Spain, Holland, Cyprus and Greece. Most UK sales are done via their online service.

Bim Burton Furniture Maker
Bim Burton is a furniture maker who has been working in Tottenham for 5 years.
He has been making furniture since 1979 and makes furniture from European and American hardwoods or found and reused timber. Before moving to Tottenham, he ran a workshop in
Kings Cross for several years, where he produced prototype furniture for celebrated British designer Jasper Morrison, amongst others.
Bim Burton has made furniture for clients from Dunhill and Wolff Olins, to Tina Turner.

Visionary Raw Nutrition
InSpiral are specialists in vegetarian, organic food and ‘superfoods’, which are served in their Lounge café and bar in Camden Town, as well as sold in retail health food shops around the UK, and online via their website.
Known for their Raw Kale chips snack, InSpiral processes approximately 1 ton of produce a week, which is then distributed to one of 250 shops across the UK that sell their products. They have 80 different retailers in the London area.
