“It was my best day ever,

every part was brilliant!”

4 year old Leila is suffering from Acute Lym-phoblastic Leukaemia. She has been undergo-

ing continuous treatment for the past 2 ½ years and it has been a very difficult time for

Leila and her family.

Her mother wanted to reward her brave little girl with an opportunity to use her new-found

energy, now that her treatment has ended. Leila really loves LEGO, so Mum applied to Mer-lin’s Magic Wand for a magical day out at LE-LE-LE-LE-

GOLAND WindsorGOLAND WindsorGOLAND WindsorGOLAND Windsor.

The family had a wonderful day, making new memories together and giving Leila the chance

to enjoy her childhood.

Leila loved her day out and said “It was my

best day ever, every part was brilliant!”.

It’s our 5th birthday in

September ! Fun ideas of

how you can celebrate

with us will be coming

soon...

Happy Birthday Merlin’s Magic Wand!

Who have YOU helped? Seven year old Devin suffers from autism and IDIC15 Syn-drome. He cannot walk or talk and requires 24 hour care. He

spends most of his days in therapy and, unfortunately, his family cannot usually take him for days out. They applied for tickets to LEGOLAND Florida LEGOLAND Florida LEGOLAND Florida LEGOLAND Florida through Mer-

lin’s Magic Wand and had a fantastic day out, which was wonderful change of scenery for Devin and an opportunity to create

memories for the family. His Mum said “Our son thor-oughly enjoyed this visit! We look forward to being able to go back some day, as his eyes lit up with everything he saw. From our family, we truly appreciate this, thank you so very much”.

CICS (Cochlear Implanted Children’s Support group) are a charity that supports children who are profoundly deaf.

They organise events for their different regions, so that the children can have fun and make new friends who are suffer-ing from the same issues. It also gives the parents a chance to meet with other parents and share their experiences.

Merlin’s Magic Wand gave them tickets to Chessington World of Chessington World of Chessington World of Chessington World of Adventures Resort Adventures Resort Adventures Resort Adventures Resort and they all had

a magical day out!

“We are truly grateful to all at Mer-

lin’s Magic Wand for making this

day possible and for putting smiles

on the faces of the children in our

group. Thanks to you, the CICS

Group was able to take a group of

children and their families to

Chessington World of Adventures for the day in April. The

children are all profoundly deaf with various additional diffi-

culties such as autism, cerebral palsy and learning difficul-

ties. It was wonderful for them to be able to forget their ca-

res and enjoy a special day filled with fun and excitement,

and we send our heartfelt thanks to you for making this pos-

sible."

“It was wonderful for them to be able to for-

get their cares and enjoy a special day”

Who have YOU helped? A Minnesota boy who’s dealing with a life-threatening brain tumor got the chance to live his dream of becoming a marine biologist. Six year old Gavin Pierson got rare, behind-the-scenes access at SEA LIFE MinnesotaSEA LIFE MinnesotaSEA LIFE MinnesotaSEA LIFE Minnesota. For his parents – Steve and Nicole Pierson – a visit to the aquarium is a measure of progress made. “It’s awesome,” Steve said. “I got my son back.” In January, Gavin was in the hospital healing from his fifth surgery to slow a fast growing brain tumor. “It was just so sad to see him not enjoy his life like he used to,” Nicole said. Gavin’s main thrill was spending time with the sea turtle. “I never saw a real one in real life,” Gavin said.

Each year in the spring, the charitable organisation Simcha Layeled hosts a camp in

Italy.

A group of 24 sick children aged 8-17 depart for the camp, each child at different

treatment stages and at a different disability level. For these children, leaving their

routine behind for a entertaining week abroad becomes the high point of their year,

and a bright spot in their routine of treatments and hospitalisation.

The highlight of the trip this year was a magical day out at Gardaland ResortGardaland ResortGardaland ResortGardaland Resort, pro-

vided by Merlin’s Magic Wand.

One of the volunteers that accompa-

nied the children on their day out said

“This is something the children will not

forget for the rest of their lives”.
