Adam Zebrin (also known as Zebra) from “Zebra”Adam’s adversity was he

was hit by a car.

“Then, a year ago, racing down Franklin Avenue, he had given himself that push and had begun to turn into an eagle, when a huge rushing shadow appeared in his line of vision and crashed into him and plunged him into a darkness from which he emerged very, very slowly…”

Adam Zebrin (also known as Zebra) from “Zebra”

One way Adam started to overcome his adversity was by using art as a hobby.

“He put together clowns, airplanes, and helicopters out of discarded cardboard, clothing, and wood. From time to time his hand hurt, but his fingers seemed slowly to be coming back to life.”

Lance Armstrong from “It’s not about the bike”

Lance started to overcome his adversity with the kind words of a nurse, LaTrice Haney.

“When you’re cured, hey, let me see you in the papers, on TV, but not back here. I hope to help you at the time you need me, and then I hope I’ll be gone.”

Reflection

From all of the characters’ adversities and the way they solved them, I have learned that there isn’t only one way to solve an adversity. I also learned if you don’t give up, you’ll find a way to solve your problems. For example, Jonas overcame his adversity by running away. Zebra overcame his adversity by using a hobby. Lance started to overcome his adversity with kind words. If you don’t give up, you’ll eventually overcome your adversity.
