 Match Report;

Falcons shut down Dolphins 24-14---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gosford,NSW- With results panning out well for both teams, Adelaide

and the Central Coast went into this game with both having secured a

play off spot. However the pressure was still on as each team looked to

improve its seeding in the post season.

It was fair to say the first half was all the Falcons as they raced away to

a 17-0 lead. They were helped with the Dolphins being stopped on

downs and then Rhys Hunt fumbled when trying to escape the pocket

from pressure. And it was pass rush pressure that had the normally fast

paced Dolphins offence spluttering.

Without their best Lineman Rusty Purcell who was in hospital with a

neck injury, the Dolphins struggled to keep the pocket clean and Hunt

was having to run for his life more than create opportunities for his

receivers. Andrew Mano meanwhile was showing that he st ill has it

and he got the ball rolling by going deep to Zac Mauro who beat press

coverage and raced away 45 yards for the score. Brynjar Dodds went in

 just before the half after the Hunt fumble, catching a swing pass from

out of the back field.

It was important for the Dolphins to be the first to score after halftime

but the defence struggled and Adelaide quickly moved the ball down

the field. Mano was able to find Jamie Jenkinson down the right and

the big receiver went up high and took the ball away from the

defenders.

The Dolphins rallied back into the game and whilst Hunt did the heavy

lifting, David Henaway broke open some big runs. They scored twice

with Sally Blackman and Oliver Keating catching touchdown passes.

The home side will lament plenty of missed opportunities as they were

agin stopped on downs and missed two field goals along the way.
