“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.” –Stanley Horowitz

We invite you to make Community Education learning a part of your autumn mosaic! As you browse through the Fall Community Education schedule, you will find many choices to inspire your creativity, foster new skills, learn new ideas, explore new places and bring new meaning to your life.

Community EducationThe montage of classes this fall includes popular dance classes, basic computer, digital camera, meditation, healthy living techniques, defensive pistol shooting and several financial management classes. We are excited to offer more foreign language classes including Japanese, French and Latin, and cultural classes in American Indian Policies and Geography of Vampires.

Heighten your creativity with Chinese Brush Painting and Drawing with Colored Pencils in addition to the popular Learning to Draw duet.

The Life Skills section has expanded and includes classes on adult ADHD, building self-esteem, emergency preparedness and a class that strengthens communication skills for veterans and their families. We are pleased to include two classes that offer Life Skills for Special Needs.

Our College for Kids program was a big success this summer, and there are expanded opportunities for children on campus this fall. You will find an after-school program and a mid-day program designed for homeschool children.

EDventuresWant to do some traveling this fall? We have great new trips for getting outdoors and exploring Arizona! Choose from the very popular Drive to the Bottom of the Grand Canyon, Rafting the Grand Canyon and Route 66 trips. In addition, we will visit the Rock Art Ranch in eastern Arizona and tour the Viticulture program on the Verde Valley campus. Take a haunted walk in downtown Prescott, track the ghost railroads and enjoy the autumn colors with a hike on the rim of Sycamore Canyon and a trip to the Snow Bowl.

Our multi-day tours are back! We’ll visit Canyon de Chelly and travel 4 days in Southern Arizona to see some of the most spectacular spots in that part of the state.

The EDventures guides are well-traveled and knowledgeable, and you’ll learn so much about the state as you journey off the beaten paths with them.

It’s not too early to start dreaming about the blue-green palette of the French Polynesian Islands. In November 2012 EDventures International will travel to Tahiti and cruise among the Marqueses islands. Join us for an informational session on Saturday, November 5, to find out more!

Here in the Community Education office we meet some of the most colorful and interesting people — our instructors. They live and work in the community, are passionate about their topics and have a wealth of knowledge to share. Their creativity and passion are portrayed in the quality of the classes they teach. We hope you will join us on campus to celebrate the colors of autumn!
