Online Cosponsors: Battered Women's Justice Project Open To: Public It is a promising approach to bullying reduction as well as for addressing sexual assaultand relationship abuse. This webinar discusses what bystander intervention is includingwhat research says about the potential importance of bystanders for violenceprevention. Current patterns of bystander behavior from one large community sampleare presented. These show that, among other findings, most violence is witnessed(except sexual assault) but responses vary and although many intervene fewer areperceived as helpful. Faculty provide examples of bystander prevention strategies andsummarize some research about their effectiveness. Examples are drawn from researchon bullying, campus sexual assault, and preventing child sexual abuse. Practitionerbystander intervention strategies are discussed. http://www.bwjp.org/resourcecenter/resourceresults/bystanderinterventiononcampus.html(http://www.bwjp.org/resourcecenter/resourceresults/bystanderinterventiononcampus.html)
