About the Endowment

The Baumberger Endowment was established in the Last Will and Testament of Charles Baumberger, Jr. (1889-1968).

Mr. Baumberger was a lifetime resident of San Antonio and a former President of the Board of San Antonio Portland Cement Company. His father was one of the founders of San Antonio Portland Cement Company and one of the organiz-ers of Bexar County National Bank. Charles Baumberger, Jr. and his wife, Gene, had no children. After providing for his wife during her lifetime, Mr. Baumberger stipulated in his Will that the income from his fortune be devoted to the educa-tion in the basic arts and sciences of Texas’ youth.

An applicant must:

1) be a graduating senior (Class of 2017) of an accredited (TEA) high school within Bexar County, Texas.

2) have resided in Texas for at least ten (10) years. 3) achieve a minimum total score of 1,000 on the SAT using the Critical

Reading and Math scores only, or composite 22 on the ACT. 4) rank in the upper one-half of high school graduating class. 5) be unable to attend college without financial assistance. 6) plan to attend a state-supported or non-denominational college or

university within the state of Texas. 7) be of good character.

An applicant who does not meet all eligibility requirements will be unable to proceed past the online eligibility phase.

If all of the above criteria are met, the applicant must register at www.baumbergerendowment.com and complete the online application through the Baumberger Endowment portal.

An application received without all supporting documents will not be rated. All applications must be submitted online through the Baumberger Endowment portal — no paper copies, faxed copies or e-mailed copies will be accepted.
