Squiggle Park: Dreamscape PilotFall 2018 call for schools

Background

In the fall of 2016, Squiggle Park—the world’s most fun and effective reading app for PreK-Grade 2 and ELL students– was launched with a group of 1500 teachers.

Using feedback from players, teachers, literacy experts, technology integrators, librarians and administrators, the game evolved to contain over 300 levels focused on phonemes, phonemic awareness, word work, and spelling. Our game is proven to lead to skill mastery 5x faster than other programs in the development of automaticity of foundational reading skills.

By June 2018 there were more than 75,000 players playing Squiggle Park.

The Evolution of Squiggle Park: Dreamscape

The most consistent feedback we received from users was that teachers

wanted more! Teachers need the engagement and skill-building that

Squiggle Park offers, but at a higher reading level and stage of skill

development for high readers in Grade 2 all the way up to Grade 6.

To do this we analyzed top research in game design and overlaid it with top

research in upper elementary literacy to create the next game on our

platform: we call it Squiggle Park: Dreamscape.

The Pedagogy

The goal of Squiggle Park: Dreamscape is to accelerate upper elementary

literacy by continuing to develop learners’ reading and writing skills while

supporting them as they shape their identities as readers, writers and

creators. Each learner builds their Foundational Writing Skills, Vocabulary,

and Syntax through story-based worlds in which they are challenged to

explore, battle and build. With Squiggle Park: Dreamscape, students

improve their Metacognition and strengthen their Social Supports to guide

their academic and personal journeys as readers and writers.

The Squiggle Park: Dreamscape Pilot Eligibility

500 select schools and organizations will be accepted to join the 3-month Squiggle Park: Dreamscape Pilot to begin in October 2018 and will end December 2018.

Each pilot school/org must have a minimum of 3 educators signed up to pilot the program. There is no maximum or minimum number of students required for each educator.

Pilot schools/organizations must have sign-off from an administrator to participate in the pilot.

Pilot schools/orgs are required to participate in a training webinar (October) and fill out feedback surveys twice within the pilot period (October, December).

● Gameplay requires a solid network connection
