We will follow District 95 school schedule. Program will take place at St. Barbara's School at 8900 Windmere,Brookfield, IL. Questions, please call 708-352-7600.

Before and After Kindergarten Care, St. Barb's. Before care from 7 to 11:15am or After care from 10:45 to 4pm. Pick up at 10:45 or 11:15am. Includes Bus Transportation. Also includes swim lessons every Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning. We will follow District 95 school schedule. Groups School Age SwimThis program follows the YMCA of the USA's guidelines to swim lessons. There is a focus on five main points; personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports & games and rescue. Classes may be combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Polliwog This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards;and kneeling dive. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on their front, back and side with an IFD, and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in without assistance; be comfortable in deep water.

Level 3: Minnow In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Level 4: Fish In this class swimmers will learn to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water one minute.

Level 5: Flying Fish In this class swimmers will learn to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Level 6: Shark In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards from crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pullout; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline; and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Level 7: PorpoiseThis level differs from other levels in that the format allows older children and teens the opportunity to develop a program that fits their interests after they complete the Shark level. Participants will expand upon the five main points of YMCA swim lessons in create ways that they help develop while they learn leadership skills and the value of community service.

Private & Semi-Private Swim LessonsIt is the YMCA's philosophy that everyone learns better in a group. Sometimes, however, individual attention can benefit the beginner. Why you should consider private lessons? Children or adults who have a specific fear related to the water. Children who need individual attention or who need work in one specific area to pass to the next level. Children or adults who want to refine a specific stroke and need specific instruction.

One Private Swim Lesson One private lesson is 30 minutes in length

Private Lesson 5 Pack This 5 pack offers you a discount for buying 5 private swim lessons for the price of 4. One private lesson is 30 minutes in length.

Semi-Private One For those families that have siblings that would both like a private lesson, we can now offer you one semi-private lesson for 45 minutes. The fee indicated is a per person fee. Semi-Private lessons are 45 minutes in length versus a private lesson which is 30 minutes in length.

Health & WellnessGamercise Stay in shape while learning new exercises, drills and games. Every class will be different. All fitness levels welcome.

Youth Martial Arts Strengthen body and mind in this martial arts class emphasizing patience, discipline and self-control. Taught by 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Jim Smith.

Dance Fitness: Kids will learn how fun staying healthy can be. We will keep them moving and grooving to new songs and your favorite classics. This class increases kids' focus and self-confidence, boosting metabolism and enhancing coordination.

Youth Yoga & Stretch Yoga and Stretch for kids 6-12yrs old. Kids will learn basic poses, breathing and building blocks of yoga. Mats and yoga props will be available.

Youth Boxing Gr. 5-8 Join us for this high-energy class. Kids will learn the fundamentals of boxing and will learn to train in the disciplined style of the boxing pros. All fitness levels are encouraged to participate

SportsFall Bball In the fall youth basketball program, kids will be placed on teams. During this eight-week program, our players will learn the concept of team basketball. They will become efficient ball handlers, shooters and passers. All games and practices take place on Saturdays.

Fall T-Ball A fun and instructional program that combines T-ball and coach pitch baseball. Fall truly is the time of year for this classic sport. Trust us, when we're finished, your child will be a better hitter and defensive player.

Red Cross TrainingBabysitting Certification Learn the basics of infant care, babysitting techniques and step-by-step instruction of what to do in an emergency situation. Please bring a bag lunch.

Home Alone Your child will learn the basics of safety in the home. It will include tips on self-care, answering the phone or door and what to do in case of a fire or emergency.

Family FunFAMILY SWIM TIME: YMCA Family Members come and enjoy some Family Swim Time at either the Hyatt Lodge or Lyons Township High School. Registration is required so we can keep our safety ratio accurate for number of lifeguards to patrons in the pool. Family Swim at the Hyatt Lodge is limited to MEMBERS ONLY. However, all non-members wanting to enjoy some family swim time can register to attend the Family Swim time offered at Lyons Township High School. Fee is $8.00 per family, per visit. Each family member must register for this family swim regardless of age for safety purposes. Note: Some Saturdays and Sundays are not available. Parents or responsible adult age 16+ must accompany all children under age 9 in the pool. Call the Member Service Desk at 708-352-7600 for dates and times.
