Families and the Gospel John 20:19-31

In today’s gospel Jesus teaches, “Blessed are those who

have not seen and believe.” Accepting someone as they

are, without demanding they prove themselves or meet

our expectations, creates a rich relationship. Without

acceptance a home is only a house and a family is just a

Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowls – You offered us

the example of the Good Samaritan, who stops to heed the cries of a person in need. As we end our Lenten journey, may we continue to walk with our brothers and sisters around the world who are hungry, with those who must flee their homes because of war or lack of opportunity, and with all who need our comfort and compassion. We pray that these, our Lenten sacrifices, may be an offering of solidarity and a promise of ongoing

encounter with our one human family. (Please turn in your CRS Rice Bowls, if you haven’t already done so, that we may forward your donations.)

THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP

AS A WAY OF LIFE

“The community of believers was of one heart and mind,

and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his

own...”

Acts 4: 32

All that we are and all that we have is a gift from God!

Think of your family, your friends, your talents, your

abilities and your money – these are all gifts from God!

We aren’t really owners of anything, we are merely

“stewards” of the gifts God has blessed us with.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY - APRIL 8th The Parish will commemorate Divine Mercy Sunday,

today, April 8th; with exposition of the Blessed

Sacrament from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Then at 3:00 PM

the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and Benediction of the

Most Blessed Sacrament will take place. All are

welcome to come and pray.

The Message of the Divine Mercy that Sr. Faustina

received from the Lord was not only directed toward her

personal growth in faith but also toward the good of the

people. When the command of our Lord to paint an

image according to the pattern that Sr. Faustina had seen,

came also a request to have this image venerated, first in

the Sisters’ chapel, and then throughout the world. The

same is true with the revelations of the Chaplet. The

Lord requested that this Chaplet be said not only by Sr.

Faustina, but by others: “Encourage souls to say the

Chaplet that I have given you.” The same is true of the

revelation of the Feast of Mercy. “The Feast of Mercy

emerged from my very depths of tenderness. It is my

desire that it solemnly be celebrated on the First Sunday

after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns

to the fount of My Mercy.”

Information regarding The Divine Mercy Novena and

can be found in the vestibule.

Join us at Saint Benedict Parish, Johnstown for “Life in

Christ: Mission, Mass & Mary”. In this dynamic three

– night mission, Catholic author and retreat director

Thomas Smith will begin by sharing how we can

embrace our baptismal mission to share the faith with

others. Next we will reflect on the Mass as the source of

our strength a model for personal prayer and an invitation

to intimacy. On night three, we will explore the

indispensable role of Mary as a model disciple, powerful

intercessor and protector. The parish mission will be

held April 22-24th, 7 PM nightly at St. Benedict Parish,

2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown. This event is open to

all in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese. Tickets are not
