Herald Gospel Camp = local missions trip in NYC where CCHC (Chinese Christian Herald Crusades nonprofit organization serving Chinese immigrants) brings inner-city youth (ages 10-14) to a super woodsy andfun camp in Bear Mt, Upstate New York. There, they can have opportunities to grow, build friendships, find their own identities, and most importantly, experien ce Gods love throughout the entire w eek

Im going to upgrade my fundraiser letter this year & take a walk down memory lane with you guys. On the left was herald gospelcamp 2007 at Citivision, my first year ever doing short-term missions. I was 16 and the assistant counselor for a bunch of boys. Onthe right is HGC 2008 at Camp Herald, where I was promoted to co-counselor with Emily (in the maroon shirt)! This time, I have thesecond oldest girls 7 th & 8 th graders (yay!)Summer 09 I was a teacher at LeadershipTraining School, my churchs childrenssummer program and I went off to collegethat August. In summer 2010, I had theopportunity to teach English in Hong Kongat an organization called Summerbridge!Last year, I felt God was calling me back toserve at HGC. If I could do it in high school,I should be more equipped to serveandGod placed me in a group of boys again! Iwas partnered with Louie (not pictured)and we had the 7 th &8 th grade boys. It was a

challenge connecting them, we had oneboy who just recently immigrated to the

States and we misjudged his English ability, but he still had a great time & wanted tocome again --- and it was equally rewarding when one of our boys made a decision tohave a relationship with God during the last couple days!

Fast-forward to this year: th ats a picture of me in front of American Universitysacademic building where I take classes for my major (international relations in caseyou forgot). Its been a crazy year of blessings and challenges. Ive been involved in ChiAlpha Campus Ministries throughout college, but this year I decided to let God work inme as I stepped up to do more administrative responsibilities & planning as the vicepresident. The role wasnt as important as learning what it meant to be involvedprayerfully for not just the students in our fellowship, but the students on our campus.This yearlong season from august 2011-may 2012 has taught me to pursue God in allparts of my life.

One decision I made was be committed to a short-term mission every year. I havedone HGC for 3 years already, and I think it is important to be consistent just doingcamp for 1 week in the summer is not enough. Its through the time after camp,building a relationship with campers through Facebook/email/inviting them to hangout where the mission field really is. The week at camp is simply the catalyst point!

Since this is a missions trip (even though were only 1&12 hour away from the city), each counselor raises $650 to help keep thecosts affordable for campers to attend. Its been amaz ing how God has provided year after year the financial support for this trip. Iknow that He will do the same for this year! I know that many of you (especially in CLL) have already been stretched thin by ourIndia missions teams and other trips, but you c an still support me through prayer. Im really thankful that God has given us prayer sowe can connect spiritually when we cant physically.

Heres what you can be in prayer for:

for the Campers that God prepares their hearts in the time before they come up to camfor the Counselors -- were still short a couple of girl & guy counselors for Session 1 (July 21 -27). That we are prepared, whether it is

in bible studies/prayer/support letters/testimonies (each counselor gives a mini-testimony after worship)for the CCHC Staff they are often super busy, directing different camps and sessions and activities throughout the summer. Pray

that they have the strength to run camp and not burn out! Pray that God continues to pour His blessings ontothem!
