Sometimes they hire actors to tell the story of the Mary Rose so it brings history to life and makes it more interesting. In action stations they have interactive simulators, interactive games and exhibits. They have the highest indoor climbing tower in the UK! They also have workshops which are free with a ticket that last for half an hour. Children can make their own paddlewheel boat and race it. This shows the vintage market which is being put on to help celebrate the Queens diamond jubilee. There are also boat trips that families can take around the harbour. Families can hire a venue for children's parties which can include activities like laser quest. Specially for families they have a family ticket that costs £55.95 if you buy on line and £62.15 if you buy on the day. This price is for two adults and three children or senior citizens. They give a discount to encourage people to book in advance as they will then have less money to take on the day and they will have a better idea of how many staff they will need. It also means that if there is poor weather, the dockyard will still make money as they customers will not be able to get their money back if they choose not to go. School groups. To help pupils to learn the dockyard have talks and activities at a number of different places within the dockyard such as Action Stations, The Mary Rose museum and HMS Warrior. Schools have to book in advance and the dockyard have a risk assessment so teachers know what the dangers are for the pupils. Teachers can go on a preliminary visit if they have made a visit. Two teachers can go in the week or one teacher can have a free family ticket if they go at weekends or in the school holidays. There are special pupils prices for self guided tours. There is an indoor area where pupils can have their lunch but this has to be pre booked. By putting on workshops for pupils the dockyard can get more customers who will come at off peak times when the Dockyard is quiet, during the week. This means their profits will increase. This is also a way of targeting new customers by aiming at young people who would not normally go on this type of visit.
