High School

Family Connection is a Web-based program designed for students and parents.

It assists students and parents in helping make decisions about courses, colleges and careers as well as assist in finding funding.

Information is specific to Bell Multicultural High School. 

Counselors can update students and parents about up-coming meetings, news, events, and other Web resources for college and career information.

No direct cost to the student or families as the service is paid by the school district.

What is Naviance Family Connection?

• Please follow the instructions given to you in order to create your account. Your username will be your student ID# and your password will be your date of birth.

• NOTE: Please make sure once you log in to add your e-mail address.

• Teachers-you can use the following user name and password to log in to a student account:

• Username: 3101• Password: gogriffins

• Announcements, emails and other important information are posted on the Welcome page. Check it often!

Logging On

Explore colleges in different ways: location, majors, resources, etc. View average test scores, average GPA’s, funding sources of students, tuition costs, student life, diversity levels, attrition rates, etc.

Identify how you compare (GPA and Test Scores) to the average GPA and SAT/ACT scores accepted at that university

Explore scholarships and complete scholarship applications.

Colleges

Once logged in (using student account):

-From home page click on Colleges tab -Scroll down to Scholarships & money-Scholarship Match tab: Will list about six scholarship pertaining to your ethnicity and then list other scholarships.Scholarship List tab: you can search for scholarships of your choice and will also list nation wide scholarships. You can also add scholarships to your personal list from here.

Notice your scores will automatically come up and compare with the colleges averages

There are several options to get quick information about the colleges such as size, cost, majors and atmosphere.

Click back on the college top tab.

Then click on the SuperMatch link

Once there, notice all the search factors on the left hand side. Decide which ones are more important to you and adjust them accordingly. As you choose factors you will notice the colleges listed automatically change.

Explore career profiles by different methods of sorting such as by career clusters, by interest, by personality type

Provides you with career information such as education requirements, specific job responsibilities, average salaries, and jobs within each career field.

Allows you to take a personality test and career interest profiler to help you find a career that matches your interests.

Careers

Please go back out to the careers top tab and scroll down to the bottom and play the video ‘Roadtrip Nation’ once you have listened/watched the video use input from your class to decide how to explore the ‘Roadtrip Nation’ feature.

This will become more useful to you as you become a Junior or a Senior and you are actively applying to employers, colleges, and universities

My Planner

Do an in class personality test.Go back up to the career top tab and click on ‘Do what

you are’ test. (You can change the language! Look ok the left hand side)

Please choose a willing student or use yourself or someone you know as an example. There are a good amount of questions but this can be very useful so please try to take it seriously and keep in lively so we don’t loose the students attention!

Once the test is completed it will show you what kind a personality you have based on the Myers Briggs personality test. On the left you will see a link that says ‘See relates careers’ Please go over at least two careers.
