THE FP2020 MIDPOINT: AN INVIGORATED AND GROWING PARTNERSHIP
• Largest wave of new and renewed commitments since the London
Summit – 93 total commitment makers
• Three new countries: Afghanistan, Lao PDR, Vietnam
• Two new organizations: Population Services International and
Margaret Pyke Trust, with the Population & Sustainability Network
• More data than ever—increasingly countries, country partners, donors, and
other stakeholders are using annual data to inform discussions around policy
and programming
• Highlighting family planning’s cross-sectoral impact on the SDGs and
promoting FP as a development “best buy”
• Ensuring all our efforts promote a rights-based approach as we work
toward universal access to FP for all women and girls, everywhere

FOCUS ON ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF YOUTH
Youth Country Support Update
• Each focal point meeting featured a youth session and had youth-
related technical assistance available for consultation during action
plan development
• Held a stakeholder meeting with CSOs (including youth led
organizations)
• Resulted in considerable focus on young people, continued support
with quarterly calls
Youth Consultations and Engagement
• With Reference Group Member Margaret Bolaji, IYAFP, and EAC
members:
• Developed and disseminated a survey and held 20 follow-up phone
calls to assess current youth related FP opportunities to assess the
current challenges

youth-specific country family planning information (FP2020
commitments, progress updates, youth priorities in action plans) be
most useful to young advocates, especially at the sub-national?
2. Call to youth FP experts: Interested on holding quarterly or regular
