★ Refers to the process of creating, distributing and promoting content to attract visitors to your blog and/or landing pages.

★ Ideal scenario: you create the content once, then outsource the rest (repurposing, distribution and promotion)

★ Good news: volume of publishing is not as important as promoting your published content

★ All things being equal, 10 pieces of content that are distributed and promoted will outperform 100 pieces of content that are not promoted

★ The implication of that is: you can create less content, with more value, and get better results.

★ Takes away some of the “endless content creation” fears some may have

★ Repurposing, distribution, promotion is a “define once, execute forever” process that is easy to outsource

★ You focus on creating your expert content - set ’n’ forget the rest.

★ There’s no place like home ★ Your blog/website is home - publish your original core content

there ★ Use content on 3rd party channels to direct visitors to your

website/blog (including youtube, facebook, g+, amazon, etc) ★ You don’t control these channels - they can shut down, or your

account can be closed without warning or your consent ★ As channels come and go, your website is always there

Content Marketing Principles

★ Create once, publish/syndicate everywhere

★ Use a media that makes outsourced repurposing easy (e.g. video)

★ Use tools, technologies and services to get your content to as many places as possible (where your audience ‘hangs out’)

★ Create “Core Content” of 500-1500 words or 15-30 minutes (more if you have it in you).

★ Have a call to action in Core Content (to an optin page)

★ Create “Teaser Content” of 3-5 minutes that entices people to visit the Core Content or Optin page.

e.g. Content Marketing Process1. Create teaser content on youtube (hangouts or

other). Include a call to action on your video to bring people to your core content or optin page.

2. Post the video to your blog with a transcript or other text description that is SEO optimized.

3. Create an audio (MP3) of the video and publish to your blog and any podcast channels you have.

4. Announce the video on G+ and FB and point people to your blog post.

5. Advertise on FB to get more viewers and point them to your blog post. Always ask for likes, comments and shares.

6. Find the influencers in your market and comment, like and share their posts on G+/FB.

7. If your video/blog post would be of interest to one of your influencers (or if you specifically design it to be), tag the influencer so they see the content on their timeline and hopefully post to it.

8. As you develop a relationship with the influencer, invite them to be interviewed, or for you to be a guest on their platform. Build a relationship from there.

9. Put out at least one new video/blog post each week (more if you can) but give yourself time in between content releases to promote the content to all your channels.

10.Promote using paid advertising too, if you have a budget for it.

★ Create an editorial / publishing calendar

★ At least once weekly, create a main content piece and some teaser content for it - with CTA to landing page.

★ Follow the steps for repurposing, distributing and publishing the content

★ Track visitors and optins

★ Follow up actively with your email subscribers
